History
Yawatahama Station was opened on 6 February 1939 as the western terminus of the then Yosan Mainline which had been extended westwards from Template:STN. It became a through-station on 20 June 1945 when the track of the Yosan Mainline linked up with the track of the then Uwajima Line at Template:STN, allowing through-traffic from Template:STN to Template:STN. At that time, the station was operated by Japanese Government Railways (JGR), later becoming Japanese National Railways (JNR). With the privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987, control of the station passed to JR Shikoku.[7][8]
