Dale Eugene Bowe was the former band director at Port Charlotte High School, as well as a volunteer in Charlotte County Schools for over 20 years. Bowe died on June 3rd, 2008 at his home in Port Charlotte, FL due to an apparent suicide. [1]

Life

Dale Bowe was a consistent volunteer at a number of schools operated by Charlotte County Public Schools, most often at Port Charlotte High School, Murdock Middle School and Port Charlotte Middle School. Bowe received a number of awards for his service to Charlotte County students by school principals and was subsequently given the districts "volunteer of the year" award in 2004 Bowe became the interim director of Port Charlotte High School's Pride of Port Charlotte Marching Band upon the retirement of longtime director Jose Lopez in 2008.

Sexual Abuse Allegations

Two PCHS students came forward to authorities with allegations of sexual abuse by Bowe at the end of the 2008 marching band season. One 15 Year old student claimed that he fell asleep in a shallow area of Bowe's pool and awoke to Bowe performing oral sex on him. The other student (16 years of age at the time) claimed that he was sexually assaulted in Orlando while on a non-school approved trip to Disney World. These allegations sparked outrage among Charlotte County residents and lead to his suspension, but he later resigned on his own free will.

Arrest

Dale Eugene Bowe was arrested on January 12, 2008 on charges of sexual assault on a child under the age of 18 and was released on $75000.00 bond. [2] He was again arrested on March 21st, 2008 on a warrant issued by Orange County (Orlando) authorities. He again posted bond and was allowed to return to Charlotte County on March 26th.

Suicide

Emergency Services was dispatched to Bowe's home after a call was made claiming that a man had a gun. Later, the person claimed that he had shot himself. at 2:40 PM, bowe was airlifted to Lee Memorial Hospital where he died 3 hours after the initial shot. The Charlotte County Coroner ruled his death as a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Peter Engle

Early Years

Peter Engle was born in Southbridge, Ma on the 21st of December in 1976. His parents, Gordon and Katherine Engle, both of which were all-american athletes in college(Gordon was a soccer star at Wichita State and Katherine was a gymnist at the University of Kentucky). Peter's older brother William Engle tormented Peter throughout his childhood, making him very aggressive on the basketball court. When Peter was 9 years old, Gordon was murdered by a double goal while playing a game of Mario strikers. During his teens, Peter's friends encouraged him to partake in drug activity, mostly consisting of black tar herion. By the age of 16, Peter was out of Rehab and ready to continue his basketball career.

High School

Peter attended Shepherd Hill Regional High School. During high school, Peter was an All-American in Football, Baseball, and also Basketball. Peter was personally contacted by Joe Paterno when he was a sophmore, but could not committ due to NCAA rules. Engle decided that he had a brighter future in basketball. Durin Engle put up extraordinary numbers,An astounding 157 blocks and 86 steals, even though he did not play the full season due to off court issues (reckless driving in student parking lot and attending school while intoxicated). He also reached his 2500 point mark for his career. Peter to this day still holds the records for most blocks, assists, points, steals, and personal fouls, and ejections at Shepherd Hill Regional High School.

College

During the summer of 1994 Peter was faced with one of the toughest decisions of his life. Many schools offered full athletic scholarships to Engle. ome of those schools included the University of North Carolina, Georgetown University, University of Cinncinati, Grambling University, Penn State University, even his father's alma-mater Wichita State was intrested in Peter. Out of the many schools that were after him, he had a strong feeling towards Penn State University. Peter was a quick standout during his freshman year at Penn State, He averaged an impressive 19 ppg, 4 blocks, and 15 rebounds throughout the year. Even with his future looking so bright, Peter still could not slow down his off court problems. During the off season in between his freshman and sophmore Peter was at a local bar when him and two of his teammates were involved in a fight. Engle was arrested and charged with a concealed weapon. Because of this fight, he was suspended indefinitly from the basketball team and once again found himself on the outside looking in. Peter went on to miss his entire sophmore season and rejoined the team at the start of the following season. Peter wanted show people that he had finally learned some discipline and would no longer be involved in any off court issues. During the 1996-1997 season, Engle lead the Penn State Nittany Lions to the hottest start in team history. During their 20 game win streak, Peter averaged 29.7 ppg, 9.1 bpg, 13.9 rpg, and 7 apg. Peter then missed the next five games when he was injured while falling asleep behind the wheel of his 1995 Jeep Wrangler. The Nittany Lions missed him dearly, losing all five games Engle missed. When he returned, Peter led Penn State to the Big Ten Championship and an automatic berth ino the NCAA tournament. The NCAA tournament would not be an easy journey for Engle and the rest of the Nittany Lions. Penn State landed a number 4 seed and would face the number 13 seeded Wichita State. The team slaughtered the shockers and now moved on to the next round of the tournament face the sixth seeded Texas Longhorns. Peter quite possibly played the best game of his career scoring a record 59 points in the second round match up, but falling short because of his teamates "lack of heart". Peter was so distraught from the loss, he would not cooperate wth the press for weeks. After the game, Peter went missing from the Penn State campus and went on a one week drinking binge at his parents lakehouse. No one heard from Engle until one week before his senior year was about to begin. However , Engle came back to the University in the best shape of his career, making the coaches extremely pleased. Over the summer, Penn State landed the number one high school recruit, Kenneth Bickley. Bickley and Engle made an unstoppable force but their relationship off the court was nothing short of abusive. Peter was reprimanded by the university as well as the coaches for hazing Bickley. Mid-way through the season, Bickely announced that he would transfer to Wake Forest te following year. In his senior season, Enlge averaged 32 ppg, 12 rpg, 8 bpg, and 5 apg. Many people consider Engle's senior season the greatest single season any player has ever had in NCAA season. With his senior season performance, Engle was a lock to be a lottery pick in the 1998 NBA Draft. Many other players such as Paul Pierce, Kobe Bryant, Bonzi Wells, and Scott Pollard also declared to enter the NBA Draft.

1998 NBA Draft

The Boston Celtics won the lottery and decided that Engle was worth the risk and was taken as the first pick in the NBA Draft. Engle was estatic that he would be returning back to his home state of Massachusetts.

NBA Career

During his first two seasons with the Celtics Engle didn't get too much playing time, only averaging 4 minutes per game. His third year in the pro's is when he got his time to shine. 10 games into the season, Peter got his first start of his career. During the game Engle put up astronomical numbers with 38 points, 16 assists, and 19 rebounds. Engle never looked back from there. His next couple seasons

Sophie Conran

Sophie Conran is the daughter of Sir Terence Conran, restaurateur and designer, and Caroline Conran, celebrated cookery writer. Her siblings include older brother Jasper Conran, Sebastian Conran and Tom Conran. Having grown up in a very 'foodie' family, Sophie has always been surrounded by cooking. When she was little, she helped her mother try out her recipes. Now a working mother of two, she also works in the cooking industry. Since 2006 she has contributed a Food and Drinks column for Junior Magazine.

In 2004, entrepreneurial Sophie created and launched her own Gourmet Pie company, winning her four medals in the Great Taste Awards in 2005. Her first book entitled 'Sophie Conran's Pies' was published by Harper Collins in 2006 and was a great success. In 2006, Sophie designed her own range of porcelain with renowned Porcelain manufacturer, Portmeirion. This beautiful yet practical range of kitchen to tableware has been hugely successful worldwide and has won awards including the Elle Deco Style Award 2006. Sophie is also known to be a Designer. In 2008, she teamed up with Drummonds of Chelsea, with whom she has re-designed their bathroom showrooms. William Kyd

William Kyd (fl. 1430-1453) was a 15th century English pirate active in Southeast England from the 1430s until the 1450s. He and others, such as John Mixtow, William Aleyn and Clays Stephen, acted under virtual immunity from the law for over two decades while under the protection of corrupt custom officials. ^[7]

Biography

William Kyd first appears in a list of pirates published in 1431 as the master of the balinger La Trinite of Exmouth. ^[8] The previous year, he and a number of other pirates active in the West Country siezed a Breton ship off the coast of Guernsey. Two years later, he joined William Aleyn and several others in capturing four ships carrying provisions to Rouen.

In 1436, sailing into the harbor of Saint-Pol-de-Léon in Brittany with eight barges and balingers, he sailed off with the Seynt Nunne which was under safe-conduct by local authorities. Arriving in Plymouth with the captured ship as well as goods belonging to a Thomas Horewoode valued at £100. Continuing his exploits during the next decade, one of Kyd's most notable accomplishments included the capture of the La Marie of London in 1448. Taking the Flanders-bound ship off the coast of Queenborough in the Thames, he quickly sailed the ship to the Isle of Wight where he sold his prize.

In November 1453, in perhaps the biggest prize of his career, he captured The Marie of St. Andrews. Bringing the ship back with him to Exmouth, his prize was noticed by a Scottish knight Sir William de Kanete (or Kennedy). Kanete left to see Thomas Gille (or Gylle), the controller of customs of Exeter and Dartmouth, and pretended to the the brother of the Bishop of St. Andrews and owner of The Marie. He and Gille then conspired to obtain a commission for the delivery of the ship in which Gille would get a share of the goods onboard. Issuing a complaint with local authorities, a commission was granted to Sir William Bourghchier de FitzWaryn, Nicholas Aysheton, Sir Philip Courtenay, Sir John Denham, James Chudley, Nicholas Radford and Thomas Gylle on July 3. Gille, along with James Chudley and Nicholas Radford, proceeded to Exeter where, after testimony by the mayor John Germyn and several others, they officially siezed the ship "of Wm. Kenete de Scocia militis" on August 10 and delivered the goods onboard to Kenete. ^[9]

William Aleyn

William Aleyn (fl. 1430-1448) was a 15th century English pirate. During the 1430s and 40s, he raided shipping throughout Southeast England and sometimes worked with William Kyd in the Thames and the English Channel. Like others of his trade, Aleyn operated freely and without interfearance from authorities while under the protection of corrupt custom officials. ^[1]

Biography

In 1431, Aleyn was listed as one of several pirates active in the area according to a public document published that year. ^[2] He joined William Kyd and several others in capturing four ships carrying provisions bound for Rouen in 1433. Fifteen years later, he and Kyd began siezing ships in the assisted him in siezing ships in the Thames and carrying them down to the English Channel. He was particularly active near Thanet, although no more is heard of him after this time. ^[3]

James Alday

James Alday was a 16th century English navigator and privateer participating in raids against the Spanish with fellow privateers James Logan and William Cooke. He is credited, along with Sebastian Cabot and Henry Ostrich, of the start of regular trading between England and the Barbary coast. He himself claimed to have organized the earliest known voyage to the Barbary coast "inventing the Barbary trade" and, although intending to command the expedition himself, Alday was forced to turn his command to another due to illness. This voyage was not successful however and a rival expedition commanded by Thomas Windham became the first to arrive there in 1551. His claim has generally been dismissed partly due to his involvement in piracy as well as lack of evidence. ^[4]

Biography

Alday was a Dartmouth skipper who was said to "hover between privateering and piracy" during the 1540s. Commanding the Trinity Gilbert, he joined James Logan of the Flying Ghost and others in raiding the coast of Galacia. An apprentice and close friend of Sebastian Cabot, Alday was involved with Cabot and Henry Ostrich in plans to establish trade with the Barbary coast. ^[5] He had organized the first voyage to the Barbary coast, however he fell seriously ill with the "great sweat" and was forced to turn his command over to another captain. This voyage was apparently unsuccessful as there are no records of its return and may have never left port. Thomas Windham would command a voyage that same year successfully reaching the Barbary coast in 1551. ^[6] In a letter to a friend, Alday claimed that he and a number of members had come down with a "sweating sickness" and "whereon the chiefe of those with whom I joyned in that voyage died, that is to say, John Lutterel, John Fletcher, Henry Ostrich and others". ^[7] Only Alday had survived, however by the time he had recovered Windham had already set sail for Morocco taken the ships from Portsmouth with him ^[8] ^[9] commenting "Windham had her away from thence, before I was able to stand upon my legges, by whom I had lost at that instant fourescore pound". ^[10]

Rebecca Bross

Rebecca Bross (born July 11, 1993) is an Junior Elite American Gymnast. She was born in Ann Arbor, MI, and trains at the World Olympic Gymnastics Academy (WOGA)alongside 2-time National Champion Nastia Liukin under Valeri Liukin and Natalya Marakova.

Rebecca began gymnastics at the age of 6 in 1999, and quickly fell in love with the sport. In 2005, Rebecca competed at the WOGA Classic as a level 10 gymnast, where she placed 1st on every event, the all-around and with the team. Later that year, she competed at the 2005 Women's Junior Olympic Level 10 National Championships in Ontario, California. Becca placed 5th in the all-around, and 1st on the balance beam, which qualified her to the 2005 US Classic in Virginia Beach, VA. Here, she placed 4th on the vault and 17th in the all-around, managing to qualify in one of the last spots to her first elite National Championships, where she placed 19th in the all-around, and 7th on vault as a junior.

2006

Rebecca started off the year with the WOGA Classic, where she placed 2nd on the vault, 20th on the uneven bars, 3rd on the balance beam, 5th on the floor exercise, 5th in the all-around, and 2nd with the team. At the Pacific Alliance Championships later that year, Bross placed 4th in the all-around, 1st with the team, and 5th on the balance beam with a 14.350. At the US Classic, Rebecca placed 6th in the all-around, qualifing her a second time to the National Championships. At the National Championships, Bross finished in 5th place in the all-around after the first night. On day 2, Bross moved up to 4th place in the all-around, just out of the medals, but still managed a silver behind Shawn Johnson on the balance beam with a 15.650. At the Pan-American Games later that year, Bross finished 5th in the all-around with a 57.750, 1st with the team, and 1st on the vault with a 14.462.

2007

Rebecca started off the year once again with the WOGA Classic, where she only competed on the uneven bars, due to an injury. Still, she managed to place 1st with the team, and 3rd on the uneven bars with a 14.300. At the US Classic, she placed 2nd in the all-around, allowing her to qualify for her 3rd straight National Championships. Before the Championships came the Pan-American Games. This was a fantastic competition for Rebecca. She finished 1st with the team, 2nd in the all-around with a 61.050, and 1st on the floor exercise with a 15.250. On day 1 of the National Championships, Bross only had 1 major mistake which was in the 1st rotation on the uneven bars, where she fell on her Tkatchev. She continued well through the rest of the night, and was in 1st place with a 58.950. On night 2, Bross fell yet again in the first rotation, only this time it was on the balance beam, where she fell on her standing arabian. She finished the night well with a 60.450, which won her the all-around, vault, floor, and uneven bars titles. She also finished second on the beam.

2008

Rebecca competed at the WOGA Classic where, despite two falls, was able to win the all-around. She competed at the US Classic, where she managed to qualify to the National Championships to try an defend her title. However, on June 3rd, Rebecca announced that she had broken a foot on the balance beam, and pulled out of the Championships.

Other

Sadly for Rebecca, due to the fact that she is born in 1993, she is 1 year to young to compete at the Olympics. She says that making the 2012 Olympic team would mean the relisation of a dream. She would also like to use gymnastics to earn a full NCAA scholarship.

Two other girls who are WOGA elites but do not train under her coaches are Catherine Nguyen and Kailey Tissue.

Empire of Midnight

Empire of Midnight

Empire of Midnight is the sequel to the manga series Akuma no Ororon (The Demon Ororon, The Devil Ororon) by Mizuki Hakase. It was published over 6 installments in Wings, a monthly manga magazine in Japan through 2000 and 2001. It is currently unfinished and there has been no word of volumizing it, completing it, or translating it officially.

Plotline

Othello, the fifth prince of Hell and Ororon's older brother, visits Chiaki once more. He finds her broken, barely eating or sleeping, and takes her in.

The manga was then discontinued.

The film focuses on FATAL played by Nora Zimmett, a former heroin addict who, having embraced this dark lifestyle, decides to leave her "family" and break free from the Goth world with the help of her college tutor TOM played by Jeff Marchelletta. By contrast, Tom finds her world increasingly seductive, and as Fatal gradually loses the only person she trusts, she discovers destiny has other plans.

Thriving Ivory is a pop/rock band from San Francisco, CA signed to Wind-up Records.

Biography

Thriving Ivory’s potent musical and lyrical alchemy first began to percolate when singer Clayton Stroope and piano player / songwriter Scott Jason met while they were students at the University of California, Santa Barbara. “As soon as I heard Clayton sing, that was pretty much it — let’s form a band,” recalls Jason. “Scott’s songs have this wonderful lyrical depth to them and are very accessible,” says Stroope. “It is so easy to put my vocal emotions into them.” First to sign on with them was guitarist Drew Cribley. Drummer Paul Niedermier followed, the moment “I heard Clayton sing,” he says, “I knew right away that this was something I wanted to be a part of. Within the first couple of weeks, we were playing before 500 to 600 screaming college kids." Bassist Bret Cohune was the final component of Thriving Ivory’s dynamic equation. “I was in another group playing around Santa Barbara, but I used to watch these guys all the time and was kind of in awe," he says. “They were on a whole other level, the kind of band I wanted to be in.” After enthralling the Santa Barbara College community the group relocated to San Francisco as their buzz grew. Johannes van Walbeeck

Johan or Johannes van Walbeeck (fl. 1634-1638) was a 17th century Dutch admiral, corsair and privateer. He was the mathematicus of the three-year circumnavigation led by Admiral Jacob l'Hermite and Vice Admiral John Hugo Schapenham and later published a record of this voyage shortly after the expedition's return in 1626. In 1629, he and Maarten Valck were sent to establish a Dutch base on the Chilean coast from which to explore Terra Australis. However, due to the colonial wars between the Dutch and Portugese, the expedition did not get past Brazil. ^[11]

In May 1634, he commanded an expedition to the Antilles for the Dutch West Indies Company. On July 29, he and Pierre Le Grande landed at Curacao and capture the island from Spain with little resistance. ^[12] He installed himself as the island's first governor while Peter Stuyvesant was appointed governor of the Netherland Antilles. During his three years as governor, the town of Willemstad was built around the natural harbor of St. Anna's Bay. A pentagonal fortification was also built in 1635, following standard Dutch military engineering practice. Although the island was considered unsuitable for colonization, Curacao became a major base for privateers to trade contraband within the next several years. ^[13]

In 1638, he and Le Grande were sent to Brazil while Jacob Pieters took over his position as governor although van Walbeeck remained political director of Curacao for the next several years. ^[14]

Peter 'LASER ARM' Engle

Early Years

Peter Engle was born in Southbridge, MA on the 21st of December in 1976. His parents, Gordon and Catherine Engle, both of which were all-american athletes in college(Gordon was a soccer star at Wichita State and Catherine was a gymnist at the University of Kentucky). Peter's older brother William Engle tormented Peter throughout his childhood, making him very aggressive on the basketball court. When Peter was 9 years old, Gordon was murdered by a double goal while playing a game of Mario strikers. During his teens, Peter's friends encouraged him to partake in drug activity, mostly consisting of black tar herion. By the age of 16, Peter was out of Rehab and ready to continue his basketball career.

High School

Peter attended Shepherd Hill Regional High School. During high school, Peter was an All-American in Football, Baseball, and also Basketball. Peter was personally contacted by Joe Paterno when he was a sophmore, but could not committ due to NCAA rules. Engle decided that he had a brighter future in basketball over all these sports and a certain icon status in professional bass fishing after winning his first B.A.S.S. Masters Classic during the summer of his sophmore year. During his freshman season, Engle put up extraordinary numbers,An astounding 157 blocks and 86 steals, even though he did not play the full season due to off court issues (reckless driving in student parking lot and attending school while intoxicated). He continued his incredible play through his entire high school career. He also reached his 2500 point mark during his junior year. Peter to this day still holds the records for most blocks, assists, points, steals, and personal fouls, and ejections at Shepherd Hill Regional High School, all broken before the start of his senior season. Although these stats seem like they would be considered the highlight of his highschool career, they were not. Many of the college coaches who had been recruiting him seemed to be most impressed by his play in the BTDL (Big Time Development League), especially a certain play which happened to be caught on tape and put into his recruiting video. The play which these coaches were astonished by was a ceratin block which was shot nearly 25 yards into a nearby pond. This is considered as the main reason why he was able to play division one basketball.

College

During the summer of 1994 Peter was faced with one of the toughest decisions of his life. Many schools offered full athletic scholarships to Engle. One of those schools included the University of North Carolina, Georgetown University, University of Cinncinati, Grambling University, Penn State University, even his father's alma-mater Wichita State was intrested in Peter. Out of the many schools that were after him, he had a strong feeling towards Penn State University. After commiting to the univesity, Joe Paterno requested that he become a dual athlete in football as well as basketball and start at quarterback his freshman year over the fuure All- American and Maxwell Award winner Kerry Collins. Peter was a quick standout during his freshman year at Penn State, he averaged an impressive 19 ppg, 4 blocks, and 15 rebounds throughout the year. Even with his future looking so bright, Peter still could not slow down his off court problems. During the off season in between his freshman and sophmore Peter was at a local bar when him and two of his teammates were involved in a fight. Engle was arrested and charged with a concealed weapon. Because of this fight, he was suspended indefinitly from the basketball team and once again found himself on the outside looking in. Peter went on to miss his entire sophmore season and rejoined the team at the start of the following season. Peter wanted show people that he had finally learned some discipline and would no longer be involved in any off court issues. During the 1996-1997 season, Engle lead the Penn State Nittany Lions to the hottest start in team history. During their 20 game win streak, Peter averaged 29.7 ppg, 9.1 bpg, 13.9 rpg, and 7 apg. Peter then missed the next five games when he was injured while falling asleep behind the wheel of his 1995 Jeep Wrangler. The Nittany Lions missed him dearly, losing all five games Engle missed. When he returned, Peter led Penn State to the Big Ten Championship and an automatic berth ino the NCAA tournament. The NCAA tournament would not be an easy journey for Engle and the rest of the Nittany Lions. Penn State landed a number 4 seed and would face the number 13 seeded Wichita State. The team slaughtered the shockers and now moved on to the next round of the tournament face the sixth seeded Texas Longhorns. Peter quite possibly played the best game of his career scoring a record 59 points in the second round match up, but falling short because of his teamates "lack of heart". Peter was so distraught from the loss, he would not cooperate wth the press for weeks. After the game, Peter went missing from the Penn State campus and went on a one week drinking binge at his parents lakehouse. No one heard from Engle until one week before his senior year was about to begin. However , Engle came back to the University in the best shape of his career, making the coaches extremely pleased. Over the summer, Penn State landed the number one high school recruit, Kenneth Bickley. Bickley and Engle made an unstoppable force but their relationship off the court was nothing short of abusive. Peter was reprimanded by the university as well as the coaches for hazing Bickley. Mid-way through the season, Bickely announced that he would transfer to Wake Forest te following year. In his senior season, Enlge averaged 32 ppg, 12 rpg, 8 bpg, and 5 apg, earning himself first team All- American honors, and winning the Naismith Award for most outstandng basketball player in the country. Many people consider Engle's senior season the greatest single season any player has ever had in NCAA season. With his senior season performance, Engle was a lock to be a lottery pick in the 1998 NBA Draft. Many other players such as Paul Pierce, Kobe Bryant, Bonzi Wells, and Scott Pollard also declared to enter the NBA Draft. During his time in college Peter had 9 children. Every child, LaVar, Terrell, Jerry, Marcus, George, Brandon, Terrance, Rachael, and Kozmo, are following in their father's foot steps becoming All- American athletes and are all planning on attendng Penn State University when they graduate Shepherd Hill High School.

1998 NBA Draft

The Boston Celtics won the lottery and decided that Engle was worth the risk and was taken as the first pick in the NBA Draft. Engle was estatic that he would be returning back to his home state of Massachusetts.

NBA Career

During his first two seasons with the Celtics Engle didn't get too much playing time, only averaging 4 minutes per game. His third year in the pro's is when he got his time to shine. 10 games into the season, Peter got his first start of his career. During the game Engle put up astronomical numbers with 38 points, 16 assists, and 19 rebounds. Engle never looked back from there. His next couple seasons
