WURL (760 AM) is a non-commercial daytimer radio station broadcasting a Southern Gospel format.[1] On weekends, it also airs Christian talk and teaching programs. WURL is licensed to Moody, Alabama, and serves Greater Birmingham. It is currently owned by the Donald Jennings Evangelistic Association, with its studios and transmitter on Radio Park Drive in Moody.[2] The association is a non-profit organization. It seeks donations on the air and on its website.
By day, WURL is powered at 1,000 watts using a non-directional antenna.[3] But 760 AM is a United States clear-channel frequency on which WJR in Detroit is the dominant Class A station. To avoid interference, WURL must leave the air from sunset to sunrise to protect the nighttime skywave signal of WJR. Its website plays the station's music 24 hours a day.
