Villars-sous-Champvent
Villars-sous-Champvent was a former municipality in the district of Jura-Nord Vaudois of the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. The municipalities of Essert-sous-Champvent and Villars-sous-Champvent merged on 1 January 2012 into the municipality of Champvent.[1]
Geography

Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 2.2% and transportation infrastructure made up 3.3%. Power and water infrastructure as well as other special developed areas made up 1.1% of the area Out of the forested land, 7.7% of the total land area is heavily forested and 1.1% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 70.3% is used for growing crops and 9.9% is pastures, while 4.4% is used for orchards or vine crops.[2]
The former municipality was part of the Yverdon District until it was dissolved on 31 August 2006, and Villars-sous-Champvent became part of the new district of Jura-Nord Vaudois.[3]
Villars-sous-Champvent lies at an elevation of Script error: No such module "convert"., Script error: No such module "convert". west as the crow flies from Yverdon-les-Bains. This farm village is nestled in the Bey valley.
To the north are the hills that rise to the foot of the Jura Mountains. To the south lies the Mont de Chamblon (Script error: No such module "convert".), the highest point in the municipality.
The surrounding municipalities are Montagny-près-Yverdon, Chamblon, Suscévaz, Champvent, and Essert-sous-Champvent.

The blazon of the municipal coat of arms is Pally of Six Argent and Azure, overall a Harrow Gules.[4]
Demographics

It has changed at a rate of 4.3% due to migration and at a rate of 8.5% due to births and deaths.[6]
Most of the population (since 2000[update]Template:Dated maintenance category (articles)Script error: No such module "Check for unknown parameters".) speaks French (44 or 97.8%) as their first language with the rest speaking German[7]

Politics
In the 2007 federal election the most popular party was the SVP which received 43.08% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the FDP (20.18%), the Green Party (11.79%) and the SP (10.88%). In the federal election, a total of 25 votes were cast, and the voter turnout was 64.1%.[13]
Economy

Religion

Education

Of the 5 who completed tertiary schooling, 80.0% were Swiss men, 20.0% were Swiss women.[7]
In the 2009/2010 school year there were a total of 9 students in the Villars-sous-Champvent school district. In the Vaud cantonal school system, two years of non-obligatory pre-school are provided by the political districts.[16] During the school year, the political district provided pre-school care for a total of 578 children of which 359 children (62.1%) received subsidized pre-school care. The canton's primary school program requires students to attend for four years. There were 5 students in the municipal primary school program. The obligatory lower secondary school program lasts for six years and there were 4 students in those schools.[17]
