Veleň

Veleň is a municipality and village in Prague-East District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 2,000 inhabitants.

Etymology
The name is derived from the personal name Velen, meaning "Velen's (court)".[2]
Geography
Veleň is located about Script error: No such module "convert". north of Prague. It lies in a flat agricultural landscape in the Central Elbe Table.
History
The first written mention of Veleň is from 1318. Until 1678, it was owned by various lower noblemen. In 1678, the Nostitz family bought Veleň and annexed it to the Pakoměřice estate.[3]

Transport
The railway line Prague–Všetaty briefly crosses the municipal territory in the west, but there is no train station.

There are no protected cultural monuments in the municipality.[4]
