Rochelle Pangilinan-Solinap (born May 23, 1982) is a Filipino actress, dancer and singer. She was part of the original lineup of the SexBomb Girls, a dance group that gained popularity through the variety show Eat Bulaga!. In 2007, she briefly rebranded as a rap artist under the name RoC.[1]

Personal life

During her childhood, Rochelle Pangilinan lived in Barangay Dampalit, Malabon, a flood-prone area in the Philippines. She did not attend college. Her father died of emphysema in 2007.[2]

Pangilinan married actor Arthur Solinap on August 8, 2017.[3] She gave birth to their daughter, Shiloh Jayne on February 24, 2019 by an emergency C-section.[4][5]

Career

Dancing career

Rochelle Pangilinan was still a student when she began joining barangay dance contests and television competitions, such as Eat Bulaga!. There, she met Joy Cancio, her cousin’s trainer, who gave her a calling card and invited her to attend dance training sessions. Joy personally trained Rochelle and hired professional instructors to further develop their skills. After two to three years of training and performing in off-network shows, they became the official house dancers of Eat Bulaga! as the SexBomb Girls.[6] In 2003, they released their hit track, "The Spaghetti Song."[7]

On June 3, 2007, Pangilinan introduced herself as RoC and launched her debut album Roc-A-Holic (released on June 8, 2007, by Panacea Music)[8] on the weekly variety show, SOP Rules. The album consists of catchy rap, hip hop-flavored and Latin-inspired songs, with the carrier single "Baile".

Acting career

She began her acting career with a main role in Daisy Siete on GMA Network, alongside the SexBomb Girls.[9] She later appeared in ABS-CBN’s Home Along Da Airport with Dolphy.[10] In 2005, she played Corella, a mermaid ally of Darna, in the television series Darna. In 2009, she returned to the rebooted Darna as the antagonist Deborah, also known as Babaeng Manananggal.[11] She later portrayed Marikit, a lead character in the historical drama Amaya.[12] In 2016, she played the villain Agane in the reboot of Encantadia,[13] serving as the right hand of Hagorn, the king of Hathoria, portrayed by John Arcilla.

In 2024, Pangilinan was cast as a comfort woman in the television war drama series Pulang Araw.[14] Her performance received acclaim and earned her the Best Primetime Supporting Actress award at the 10th Platinum Stallion National Media Awards, marking her first acting trophy.[15]
