Etymology

The specific epithet, Script error: No such module "Lang"., meaning "thorny leaves", is derived from Latin Script error: No such module "Lang". (pointed, acute), and Script error: No such module "Lang". (-leaved), and refers to the characteristic shape of the leaves.[2]

Distribution

This species is found in the South Island from northern Marlborough westward and south to southern Westland.[3] Its natural habitat is lowland and montane forest and scrub.[3]
