Before Eurovision

Like the Template:Esccnty, Script error: No such module "Lang". (NTS) held a national final titled Script error: No such module "Lang". with eight songs competing.[1] Initial plans foresaw ten competing entries: In late 1956, NTS asked five composers to submit songs for its national final: Template:Ill, Template:Ill, Melle Weersma, Johnny Steggerda, and Jaap Streefkerk.[2] In addition, the Dutch songwriters association Script error: No such module "Lang". (WTL) held an open selection among its members to submit another five entries.[2][3][4] A total of 140 songs were submitted to WTL.[5] NTS rejected most of the five songs selected by WTL so WTL chose to withdraw its participation altogether.[4][5] Therefore NTS decided to turn to composers Guus Jansen and Jan Mol and asked them to write additional entries.[6]
