The systematic name of this enzyme class is N-methyl-L-glutamate:acceptor oxidoreductase (demethylating). Other names in common use include N-methylglutamate dehydrogenase, and N-methyl-L-glutamate:(acceptor) oxidoreductase (demethylating). This enzyme participates in methane metabolism.
