Matthew Barnson (born 1979) is an American composer.

Biography

Barnson is a native of Utah[1] and obtained his undergraduate degree from the Eastman School of Music.[2] He pursued graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania and Yale University.[1] Barnson is the youngest recipient of a Barlow Commission[3] from the BYU College of Fine Arts and Communications. He was awarded a 2009 Charles Ives Prize. He is currently an assistant professor of composition at Stony Brook University.[4]
