History
The village was first mentioned in 1288 under the Latinized form Malewicz, and then in 1315 as Maluyewicz, when it was part of fragmented Piast-ruled Poland.[2] The name of the village is of Polish origin and comes from the Polish word mały, which means "small", referring to its size.[2][3]
On 10 April 1741, it was the site of a battle between Prussia and Austria, won by the Prussians.
