Lespignan (Script error: No such module "IPA".; Template:Langx) is a commune in the Hérault département in the Occitanie region in southern France.
Geography
Climate
Lespignan has a mediterranean climate (Köppen climate classification Csa). The average annual temperature in Lespignan is Template:Cvt. History
Excavations indicate human habitation of Lespignan dating to 4000 years ago.[2] During the 13th century, Lespignan was granted to Lambert de Thury, a companion of Simon de Montfort, as a part of the Albigensian Crusade.[2] In 1379 King Charles V used his right of preemption to officially establish Lespignan as a community.[2] In 1500, the village acquired its own lord through a treaty of joint sovereignty with King Charles V.[2] The absence of a male heir led to successive changes in leadership.[2]
