Script error: No such module "Nihongo". is a third-person shooter game for the Nintendo 64, developed by Yuke's and published by Hudson Soft. It was released in Japan in May 1999.

Plot

Last Legion UX takes place in a world split into four continents, each based around one of the four elements. The world is governed by the global organization Union IV, which has developed peacekeeping mech suits called Legions that are powered by special elemental ore called PowerStones. A terrorist group known as Light Raid takes control of several Legions and declares their intentions for world domination, beginning a war that lasts for many years.

In the year 2083, Light Raid hijacks a Union IV time portal facility, sending eight of their Legions back in time 4500 years to the beginning of civilization, hoping to alter the past and secure their control of the world. To stop their plans, Union IV sends Legion pilot Colonel Reddi back in time with orders to destroy Light Raid's Legions and preserve the future.[1][2]

Development and release

Last Legion UX was first announced by Hudson Soft at E3 1997, with press outlets comparing it to Sega's Virtual On: Cyber Troopers (1995).[3][4] In October 1997, it was reported by Nintendo Power magazine that Mindscape would be publishing the game in the west, with IGN believing the game could be released before the end of the year.[5] Hudson Soft later clarified that the news was premature and that they were still in negotiations with Mindscape, stating a North American release would not occur until Q2 or Q3 of 1998, after the Japanese version had launched.[6] Hudson and Mindscape's negotiations later fell through, and the game underwent a lengthy delay, ultimately releasing only in Japan in May 1999.[7][8]
