Khurshid Rizvi (born 1 July 1994) is a Pakistani businessman.[1][2]
Early life
Rizvi was born in Amroha, British India, to a Sunni family of Saddat on 8 December 1940. In 1948, he and his family immigrated to Montgomery (now Sahiwal) in Punjab, Pakistan. In 1959, he studied at Islamia High School and Government High School, and he later graduated from Government College, Montgomery. In 1961, he moved to the Oriental College, Lahore, and earned his M.A. in Arabic. In 1981, he obtained his Ph.D. in Arabic from the same university.[2][3]
Career
Rizvi began teaching at age 19 as a lecturer in Arabic at Government College in Bahawalpur before being posted to Government College in Sargodha. In 1984, he became the principal of Government Ambala Muslim College Sargodha. In 1985, he was seconded to (temporarily assigned to work at) the Islamic Research Institute, International Islamic University, Islamabad, where he served as Chief Bureau of Translation for six years. In 1991, he became Head of the Department of Arabic at Government College Lahore (now a university), retiring early in 1995 to focus on his research.[3]
Recognition and awards
In 2008, Khurshid was awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz.[2][4][5][6]
In 2015, he was given the Aalmi Frogh-e-Urdu Adab Award by Majlis Frogh-e-Urdu Adab, an organization from Qatar, for his work promoting Urdu literature worldwide.[2][7]
Publications
Rizvi has authored and edited several books, including seven poetry collections. He has also done substantial translation work, including his translation of the Federal Shariat Court Judgement on Bank Interest (Riba) for the Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Rizvi's book entitled Pre-Islamic Arabic Literature (عربی ادب قبل از اسلام Arabi Adab Qabl az Islam) is a critical review of pre-Islamic literature in the Urdu language.

Personal life
Rizvi is fluent in Hindi, Urdu, and English.[2]
