KFJZ (870 AM) is commercial radio station broadcasting in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex with a financial news/talk format via the BizTalkRadio network. It is licensed to Fort Worth and is owned and operated by SIGA Broadcasting Corporation. KFJZ's sister stations with SIGA Broadcasting include KTMR (1130 AM, Converse), KLVL (1480 AM, Pasadena), KGBC (1540 AM, Galveston), KAML (990 AM, Kenedy-Karnes City), and KHFX (1140 AM, Cleburne).

KFJZ is a daytimer station. It is powered at 1,000 watts, using a directional antenna.[1] But 870 AM is a clear channel frequency reserved for Class A station WWL in New Orleans. To avoid interference, KFJZ must go off the air at night. Programming is heard around the clock on FM translator K273CS at 102.5 MHz.[2]

History

The station signed on the air on December 6, 1946; Template:Time ago (1946-Error: Invalid time.-06)Script error: No such module "Check for unknown parameters"..[3] Its original call sign was KCNC and it was powered at 250 watts, days only. It was owned by the Blue Bonnet Broadcasting Corporation with studios at 705 Main Street in Fort Worth.

The KFJZ call letters were also on a radio station in Fort Worth in that era at 1270 kilocycles (now KFLC). When it switched its call sign in 1984, that's when 970 AM requested those call letters.
