HMS E25 was a British E-class submarine built by William Beardmore and Company, Dalmuir. She was, along with the future Script error: No such module "WPSHIPS utilities"., one of a pair of submarines ordered by the Ottoman Navy on 29 April 1914, but was taken over by the Royal Navy and assigned the E25 name. She was laid down in November 1914, launched on 23 August 1915, and was commissioned on 4 October 1915. HMS E25 was sold on 14 December 1921.[1]

Design

Like all post-E8 British E-class submarines, E25 had a displacement of Script error: No such module "convert". at the surface and Script error: No such module "convert". while submerged. She had a total length of Script error: No such module "convert".[1] and a beam of Script error: No such module "convert".. She was powered by two Script error: No such module "convert". Vickers eight-cylinder two-stroke diesel engines and two Script error: No such module "convert". electric motors.[2][3] The submarine had a maximum surface speed of Script error: No such module "convert". and a submerged speed of Script error: No such module "convert".. British E-class submarines had fuel capacities of Script error: No such module "convert". of diesel and ranges of Script error: No such module "convert". when travelling at Script error: No such module "convert"..[1] E20 was capable of operating submerged for five hours when travelling at Script error: No such module "convert"..

E25 was armed with a 12-pounder QF gun, mounted forward of the conning tower. She had five 18 inch (450 mm) torpedo tubes, two in the bow, one either side amidships, and one in the stern; a total of 10 torpedoes were carried.[2]

E-Class submarines had wireless systems with Script error: No such module "convert". power ratings; in some submarines, these were later upgraded to Script error: No such module "convert". systems by removing a midship torpedo tube. Their maximum design depth was Script error: No such module "convert". although in service some reached depths of below Script error: No such module "convert".. Some submarines contained Fessenden oscillator systems.[1]

Crew

Her complement was three officers and 28 men.[1]
