He played in the National Hockey League with the Washington Capitals and Los Angeles Kings from 1980 to 1987. He was selected 38th overall by the Capitals in the 1978 NHL Entry Draft. Currie is the nephew of former NHL hockey player Jimmy Peters Sr.
