Faceby is a small village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England. It is at the north-west corner of the North York Moors and near Stokesley.
Overview
The village is located on the north-western edge of the North York Moors National Park[1] and is Script error: No such module "convert". south of the A172 road, and is Script error: No such module "convert". from the A19 to the west and Script error: No such module "convert". from Stokesley to the north-east.[2]
The name of the village derives from the Old Norse meaning "Feit's Settlement", with Feit being a personal name.[3] It has one pub (The Sutton Arms),[4] a village hall, and the 12th century St Mary Magdalene's Church, Faceby.[5] Buses run to Northallerton and Stokesley three or four times a day.
From 1974 to 2023 it was part of the district of Hambleton, it is now administered by the unitary North Yorkshire Council.
