On 1 January 2021 the former municipalities of Bagnes and Vollèges merged to form the new municipality of Val de Bagnes.

Of the population in the district 7,166 or about 59.0% were born in Entremont and lived there in 2000. Politics

In the 2007 federal election the most popular party was the CVP which received 51.76% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the FDP (20.08%), the SVP (13.43%) and the SP (8.39%). In the federal election, a total of 5,031 votes were cast, and the voter turnout was 56.1%.

In the 2009 Conseil d'État/Staatsrat election a total of 4,659 votes were cast, of which 231 or about 5.0% were invalid. The voter participation was 53.2%, which is similar to the cantonal average of 54.67%. In the 2007 Swiss Council of States election a total of 4,931 votes were cast, of which 357 or about 7.2% were invalid. The voter participation was 56.4%, which is similar to the cantonal average of 59.88%.

Religion

From the 2000 censusTemplate:Dated maintenance category (articles), 10,194 or 84.0% were Roman Catholic, while 608 or 5.0% belonged to the Swiss Reformed Church. Of the rest of the population, there were 59 members of an Orthodox church (or about 0.49% of the population), there were 3 individuals (or about 0.02% of the population) who belonged to the Christian Catholic Church, and there were 57 individuals (or about 0.47% of the population) who belonged to another Christian church. There were 14 individuals (or about 0.12% of the population) who were Jewish, and 85 (or about 0.70% of the population) who were Islamic.
