A coal baron is a term colloquially used to describe an entrepreneur who possesses great power or influence through the possession and operation of coal mines. The phenomena exists in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. Coal barons reached their peak influence between the 1880s and the 1950s.[1][2][3]
