Carpentier is a Norman-Picard surname,[1] variant form of French Charpentier[2] and is similar to the English Carpenter, that is borrowed from Norman. In Basse Normandie, the most common form is Lecarpentier.[3]
The words carpentier, charpentier, carpenter are ultimately from Late Latin; Script error: No such module "Lang". "artifex" or "wainwright", equivalent to Latin Script error: No such module "Lang".
