Shubhashish Mazumder Bappa (born 5 February 1972), better known as Bappa Mazumder,[1] is a Bangladeshi singer, lyricist and music composer.[2] He is the lead singer of the rock band Dalchhut, which he formed in 1995 with Sanjeeb Choudhury.[1]
Mazumder won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Music Composer for the song "Na Jani Kon Oporadhey" in the film Swatta (2017).[3] His notable songs include Pori, Din Bari Jay, Surjo Snan, Bioscope, Raater Tren, Baji, Labh Khoti, Amar Chokhe Jol, Chhilo Gaan Chhilo Pran and Kothao Keu Nei.[1]
Early life and family
Shubhashish Mazumder Bappa was born on 5 February 1972 to the musician couple, Barin Mazumder and Ila Mazumder.[1] His elder brother, Partha Pratim Majumder, is a mime artist. His other brother, Partha Sharothi Mazumder, is a music composer from whom he took his first guitar lessons.[4]
Career
Mazumder released his first solo music album Tolkhon Bhor Bela in 1995.[1] In 1996, along with Sanjeeb Choudhury, he founded the music band Dalchhut and released their first studio album Ah! in 1997.[1] His solo album His seventh solo album, Din Bari Jay, was released in 2005.[1]
In May 2019, he released a song, Bondhu Re, in collaboration with the Indian musician, Sona Mohapatra.[5]

Personal life
In 2008, Mazumder married dancer Mehbooba Mahnoor Chandni; they divorced in 2018.[6] He then married actress Tania Hossain on 23 June 2018.[3] Their first child, Agnimitra Mazumder Piyeta, was born in December 2019 and the second one in October 2024.[6][7]
