Aspidosperma is a genus of flowering plant in the Dogbane family (Apocynaceae), first described as a genus in 1824. It is native to South America, Central America, southern Mexico, and the West Indies.[1][2] One Central American species of this genus under the name "Aspidosperma cruenta" (not accepted by POWO) has leaves which have lived for as long as fourteen years on Barro Colorado Island, Panama,[3] and exceeded among dicots only by the Australian tree Doryphora sassafras.
