Anomochloa
Template:Short description Template:Speciesbox
Anomochloa is a monotypic genus of flowering plants in the grass family, Poaceae. It is one of the two genera in its subfamily and the only genus in the tribe Anomochloeae.[1][2][3][4][5] The only known species is Anomochloa marantoidea, native to the State of Bahia in eastern Brazil.[6]
Description
Vegetative characteristics
Anomochloa is a terrestrial,[7] perennial, rhizomatous[8] herb.[7]
Generative characteristics
The oblong, laterally compressed[8] 10 mm long, and 2.5 mm wide caryopsis[7] has an adherent pericarp.[8]
Cytology
The diploid chromosome count of Anomochloa is 2n = 36.[9]
Taxonomy
It was published by Adolphe Théodore Brongniart in 1851.[1] Within the subfamily Anomochlooideae, it is placed in its own monotypic tribe Anomochloeae.[10][11]
Conservation
It is an endangered[7][12] and extremely rare species.[13]
