Alfred Blumstein

Alfred Blumstein (born 1930) is an American scientist and the J. Erik Jonsson University Professor of Urban Systems and Operations Research at the Heinz College and Department of Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University. He is known as one of the top researchers in criminology and operations research.
In 1998, Blumstein was elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering for bringing systems engineering and operations research to the field of criminology.Script error: No such module "Unsubst".
Biography
Blumstein graduated with his bachelor's degree and Ph.D. from Cornell University and worked at the Institute for Defense Analyses before joining the Heinz College.Script error: No such module "Unsubst".
Blumstein directs the NSF-funded National Consortium on Violence Research at Carnegie Mellon and was dean of the Heinz College from 1986 to 1993Script error: No such module "Unsubst".
He is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the American Society of Criminology and served as President of the latter.Script error: No such module "Unsubst".
Blumstein was president of the Operations Research Society of America (ORSA) in 1977–1978, The Institute of Management Sciences (TIMS) in 1987-88 and in 1996 he was the president of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS). He became an INFORMS Fellow in 2002.[1]
