Template:Short description Akira Satō is the founder and current Head Instructor of Shito-Ryu Satokai, based in Vancouver, Canada.[1][2]

Akira Sato started studying karate in 1962 in Japan. He later joined the dojo of Seiko Suzuki in Tokyo under the style of Ryusho Sakagami (Shito-Ruy Itosu-Kai). Akira Sato moved to Canada in 1970 and then started developing Shito-Ruy karate in Vancouver, Canada.

Since 2017, Akira Sato has his own organization, the Sato-Ha Shito-Ryu Kokusai Rengo (International Federation) with affiliations in over 25 countries.
