Adenanthera bicolor is a species of plant in the family Fabaceae. It is found in Malaysia,[1][2] and Sri Lanka.
Taxonomy
According to the World Checklist of Vascular Plants, the name Adenanthera bicolor is synonym with Adenanthera aglaosperma;[3] but The Plant List cited A. bicolor as "a misapplied name: In the past this name has been erroneously used to refer to Adenanthera aglaosperma Alston".[4] A more recent version gives the species as Adenanthera aglaosperma (accepted name) since December 2022, with A. bicolor as a synonym.[5]
Protection status
It is classed as a threatened species, with an abundance percentage of only 0.06%.[6]
Possible confusion
Its seed, red with a black dot at the tip,[7] can be confused with that of Abrus precatorius.[8]
