In their third year under head coach E. C. Duggins, the Mountaineers compiled an overall record of 9–3, with a mark of 6–2 in conference play, and finished second in the NSC. State concluded their season with a victory over [[{{{school}}}|Catawba]] at the Pythian Bowl.
