It lies approximately Script error: No such module "convert". north-east of Dubeninki, Script error: No such module "convert". east of Gołdap, and Script error: No such module "convert". north-east of the regional capital Olsztyn.

In the past, it was also known in Polish as Szytkiejmy.[2]

Three annual fairs were held in the village in the late 19th century.[2]
