Issues with this VfD

This article was put up for deletion with no prior discussion about it and no effort to build a consensus that it should be deleted (or not). This is wrong and I strongly object to this action. Any votes for deletion should be carefully considered and discussed prior to taking such an action. In fact, this section and this comment are the first on the discussion page about deletion. The editor who placed the article up for deletion took the action unilaterally with flagrant disregard to Wikipedia policy and standards. Calicocat 06:33, 26 July 2005 (UTC)

Organized page

I took the liberty of organizing the page, putting votes to delete, votes to keep and votes to merge under seperate headings, which is how the page should have been set-up to start with. I also started section for discussion since many seem to wish to add commentary. Calicocat 06:05, 26 July 2005 (UTC)

I'm sure you meant well, and the result is in some way easier to understand -- but I think it was a bad move, making it harder to follow arguments. For yes, there was a certain degree of willingness of the proponents of both sides to discuss the issues. -- Hoary 06:28, July 26, 2005 (UTC)

You're right, it was an error and if you want to revert it, please do so, or I will when time permits. Discussions should be taken to the discussion page in any event; and moreover, if you see my comments and on the article's discussion page (also copied to the discussion page here), you'll that this VfD itself was taken as a unilateral action without any notice or discussion at the article's talk page... Wikipedia:Guide to Votes for deletion asks, "Please do not refactor the discussion into lists or tables of votes, however much you may think that this helps the process." I've undone the reorganization. I hope I didn't drop any votes in the process, but they were mostly anons anyway, I think. Aerion//talk 14:35, 26 July 2005 (UTC)

Current state of the article

The current state of the article has greatly improved. Perhaps this VdF acted as a kind of article improvment drive. So be it. I don't like how this was done, but the result seems to be a very temperate and informative article about impeachment of the president. I'm sure futher development and editing will render this a good entry in the overall body of articles. I've not edited much on this article so I have a kind of outside view on it, I like how it's going, I think it's on the right track in terms of tone and information sources.
