Pierre?
Pierre is the capital of South Dakota, there's something about ambiguities, and I think Rober Pierre was the first to reach the north pole.--HereToHelp (talk • contribs) 18:31, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, I cannot verify if he ever pretended to die trying to reach the North Pole, but Rober Pierre is not the answer to this puzzle. -- Ravn 19:08, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
- Robert Pierre. *Slaps himself*.--HereToHelp (talk • contribs) 01:11, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
- Perhaps you're thinking of Robert Peary. Dmn € Դմն 03:33, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Is Roald Amundsen the man who died trying to reach the North Pole? Dmn € Դմն 03:33, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
- Neither of the three - Robert Pierre, Robert Peary or Roald Amundsen - are linked to this puzzle. -- Ravn 15:12, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

No-one?
Just a wild guess, but I say that it was no-one. Ghelae 17:21, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
- It certainly was someone. -- Ravn 17:33, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
- Not that I'm skeptical about this or anything, but are you sure there was someone? Just searching for keywords like "Yale", "North Pole", and "daughter" on Google (set w/ domain to only Wikipedia of course!) yields in pretty much nothing, unless this is a trick question. "He died while travelling to the North Pole.
At least, he pretended to." - Would that mean he pretended to go to the North Pole? In fact, all those bits he may have pretended. - Ghelae 11:54, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
- He might. -- Ravn 16:56, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
partial answer/guess
I'll hazard a guess at it being Max von Sydow and the clues relate to various roles he's played. It's only a guess because I can only come up with connections for two of the clues: the snake cult thing fits with his character of King Osric in Conan the Barbarian and the character who wants predictions to be unambiguous could be Lamarr Burgess from Minority Report. The others I don't know. --Spondoolicks 17:03, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
- You are right, congratulations. Now be quick and find the other clues.. ;) -- Ravn 17:10, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
- Fantastic. Right, that's spurred me on to more research so here is the full answer:
- He studied in Yale. - Abner Hale in Hawaii
- He believes that predictions have to be unambiguous. - Lamarr Burgess in Minority Report
- His daughter adhered to a cult of snakes. - King Osric in Conan the Barbarian
- A capital was named after him. - Ming the Merciless in Flash Gordon
- He died while travelling to the North Pole. - Salomon August Andrée in Flight of the Eagle
