Our articles

We take care of the tens of thousands of articles, about 88,000 at last count – that's close to 2% of all articles on the English Wikipedia! Here is a breakdown by quality and importance:

{{Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Poland articles by quality statistics}} {{Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Polish military history articles by quality statistics}}

You are welcome to add more articles we missed to our project, and assess them. See #Templates for how to add articles to that list, Wikipedia:WikiProject Poland/Assessment for information on assessment, and Wikipedia:WikiProject Poland/Reviews for current requests for a B-class review.

Articles in need of improvement

Template:WikiProject cleanup listing Articles tagged with various issues are listed in a sortable list at here (the on-wiki listing is no longer actively maintained). As of December 2010, 12570 or 18.7% were marked for cleanup. As of September 2012 that grew to 14790 or 20.3 % of (the also growing) total.

A frequently updated list of unreferenced biographies of living persons is here. As of September 2011, we have eliminated the backlog there, and as of September 2012, the list usually has between 0 to 2 articles. Adding referencing to living person bios is one of Wikipedia's priorities.

Templates

  • Template:WikiProject Poland (short: Template:Tl, full syntax: {{WikiProject Poland|class=|importance=}}) is our assessment template. Please add it to the talk pages of all Poland-related articles, it is a key template that enables the article to be included in our article news, popularity ranking, project watchlist deletion discussion notifications the nifty quality and importance tables we have at the top of this page and other tools.
  • Template:Tl creates a citation with a link to the GUS/TERYT website, as well as instructions in English of how to perform a search
  • Use Template:Tl for Polish words or phrases, thus: {{lang|pl|Gmina Świnice Warckie}} will produce Script error: No such module "Lang".
  • The Template:Tl template can be used to produce representations of Polish pronunciation.
  • When marking sources in Polish language, use Template:Tl to produce Template:In lang
  • There is also a Portal:Poland/Welcome message box that can be used to notify new users about this noticeboard and our related projects. Just slap {{subst:Portal:Poland/Welcome}}--~~~~ on their usertalkpage – it has its own heading.
  • use Template:Tl to link Polish language wikiquote pages (often found on Polish Wikipedia articles). The full syntax is {{wikiquotelang|pl|article name|article name}} (yes, it seems you need to use the article's name twice), for example {{wikiquotelang|pl|Stanisław Koniecpolski|Stanisław Koniecpolski}}
  • use Template:Tl just like Wikiquotelang above but for linking to Polish Wikisource articles.
  • Various other, less used templates are listed at Category:Poland templates

Awards

In the spirit of kindness and recognition we strongly encourage the use of the following barnstars, awards and assorted goodies:

Image What to type Description Ribbon
The Barnstar of National Merit Template:Tlsp The Barnstar of National Merit

The Barnstar of National Merit may be awarded to an editor who contributes significantly to expand or improve Wikipedia's coverage of any given country.
It may also be awarded to those who create a particularly fine article on the subject of Geography.

The Poland Barnstar Template:Tlsp The Poland Barnstar is an award placed on another user's talk page for improving Poland-related articles.
The Polish Barnstar of National Merit, 1st Class Template:Tlsp The Polish Barnstar of National Merit, 1st Class

The Polish Barnstar of National Merit, 1st Class is a specific variant of the Barnstar of National Merit, which may be awarded to editors who contributed significantly to expanding or improving Wikipedia's coverage of Poland. The 1st Class award should be used for very significant contributions (for example, getting an article to FA level). In most cases, the 2nd Class (below) will be sufficient. As a rule of thumb, somebody should have already received a 2nd Class award before being eligible for the 1st Class.

The Polish Barnstar of National Merit, 2nd Class Template:Tlsp The Polish Barnstar of National Merit, 2nd Class

The Polish Barnstar of National Merit, 2nd Class is a specific variant of Barnstar of National Merit, which may be awarded to editors who contributed significantly to expand or improve Wikipedia's coverage of Poland. The 2nd Class can be given for various reasons, but if the contributor has done something really significant, and has already received this award, consider giving him or her a 1st Class award (above).
