Wiki143:WikiProject Omaha
WikiProject Omaha was started on May 3, 2008 to coordinate work on articles related to the article Omaha in the English Wikipedia. Some Wikipedians have adopted this as a project to better organize information in articles related to the city of Omaha in the U.S. state of Nebraska.
This WikiProject aims to coordinate improvement efforts on articles related to Omaha, and includes all articles in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metropolitan area. However, it welcomes contributions from the entire Omaha area. It is also an aim of this project to bring the Omaha city article up to Featured Article status, in part by bringing it up to the standards defined by WikiProject Cities. We are considering formalizing an Assessment policy and procedure.
Goals

- To improve Wikipedia's coverage of Omaha by creating, expanding, and maintaining such articles and related portal.
- To serve as the central point of discussion for issues related to Omaha in Wikipedia.
- Establish maintain Wikipedia as one of the premier online information resources on the Omaha metropolitan area.

Wikipedia relies on verifiable sources. Some of the sources on Omaha that we have found are:
- Official City of Omaha website
- City of Omaha Vistor's Bureau
- Larsen, L.H. and Cottrell, B.J. (1997) The Gate City: A History of Omaha. University of Nebraska Press. - The first complete, modern history collection of note.
- Larsen, L.H., Dalstrom, H.A., Dalstrom, K.C. and Cottrell, B.J. (2007) Upstream Metropolis: An Urban Biography of Omaha and Council Bluffs. University of Nebraska Press. - The most current version of comprehensive Omaha history available.
- Douglas County Historical Society. (2007) "History at a glance". - A really nice timeline that appears pretty comprehensive. Clocks in at 25+ pages long.
- Bristow, D. (1997) A Dirty, Wicked Town: Tale of 19th Century Omaha. Caxton Press. - The funnest book of Omaha history yet written.
- Cutler, W. (1882) Andreas' History of Nebraska. Andreas Publishing Co. - This is widely seen as a source text.

- "Early Omaha: Gateway to the West" - A nice collection by the Omaha Public Library.
- Historic photos from across Omaha history
- Early Omaha photos - A great collection that is physically located at the downtown library.
- Nebraska State Historical Society website. - With lots of info, including NRHP info and more.
