Welcome to WikiProject New York (state) (WPNY), a WikiProject dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of the U.S. state of New York. All editors interested in improving articles related to New York (state) are encouraged to join the project by signing up at Participants.

Scope and goals

WikiProject New York (state) covers all articles relating to the US state of New York. Our goal is to build the best free encyclopedia on New York (state) subjects by:

1. Creating, improving, and maintaining articles that relate to the State of New York
2. Categorizing, classifying, and organizing articles relating to the state.
3. Providing recommendations and best-practices for editors working on the state's articles.
4. Serving as as the central point of discussion for issues related to New York (state) on the English Wikipedia.

Guidelines and structure

Articles within the scope of this project shall use the article structure guideline laid out by the most relevant WikiProject for a given article. For example, an article on a school should use WikiProject Schools's guideline and structure, while an article on a state-maintained or state-designated highway should use WikiProject New York State Routes's guideline and structure.

Infoboxes

Articles should have an infobox that concisely summarizes the article's content. See Category:Infobox templates for a raw list of infobox templates. Examples of infoboxes include:

• Template:Tl;: for long-distance roads, freeways, etc.
• Template:Tl: for all types of settlements in the state of New York such as (click for examples) hamlets, villages, towns, and cities
