How you can help the project

Improve our articles

Add Infoboxes – Help to standardise the data presented on protein articles

Add images – Diagrams and figures are particularly important to science articles so you can look at our diagram guide for standardising protein and cell figures, or ask for help in creating and updating pictures on the Talk page

Add references – Reliable citations are needed articles to be a verifiable source of information

Collaboration – Contribute to a team effort by participating in the collaborations that come up on our talk page to improve relevant articles to featured article status
Label articles of interest – Add pages to the project by putting the following template on the talk pages of all articles of interest to molecular and cell biology:

Adopt a stub – There are many, many stubby MCB articles that have potential, see Category:Molecular and cellular biology stubs or Category:Stub-Class MCB articles.
Categorisation – Add protein articles to the list of types of proteins and place them in the proteins category or one of its subcategories.
Recruitment – Assist in public relations and outreach by recruiting editors interested in molecular and cell to contribute to Wikipedia.
Clean up articles – There is a list of articles requiring clean up at Template:WikiProject cleanup list
Create new articles

New gene stubs for WP:notable genes can be created using a tool:

1. Look up the "Gene ID" number on NCBI Gene for a missing gene entry in Homo sapiens
2. Append that number to http://genewiki.sulab.org/wiki/article/create/ (e.g., TAAR9: 134860 – http://genewiki.sulab.org/wiki/article/create/134860/)
3. Navigate to that url, click "Toggle Stub Code", and copy/paste the output into a new Wikipedia article about the gene
