Follow these simple insructions to assess an article for WikiProject:Middle Ages.

1. Add {{WPMA|class=|importance=}} to the article's talk page.
2. Decide the article's class using the tables below, and update the template in the talk page. For example, {{WPMA|class=start|importance=}}
3. Decide the subject's importance in relation to the Middle Ages using the table below, and update the template in the talk page. For example, {{WPMA|class=start|importance=low}}
4. Publish changes, and it will automatically update.

Criteria

Importance: the subject's importance in relation to the Middle Ages, regardless of the article's quality.

class="import-top " style="text-align:center; color:inherit; background:Template:Importance/colour; " |Top	Subject is a must-have for any print encyclopaedia. Roughly equivalent to levels 1-4 of WP:VA. For example, Crusades or First Crusade.
class="import-high " style="text-align:center; color:inherit; background:Template:Importance/colour; " |High	Subject is important. Roughly equivalent to level 5 of WP:VA. For example, Second Crusade or Richard II of England.
class="import-mid " style="text-align:center; color:inherit; background:Template:Importance/colour; " | Mid	Subject has some importance. For example, Prades Tavernier or Battle of Durbe.
class="import-low " style="text-align:center; color:inherit; background:Template:Importance/colour; " | Low	Subject is peripheral knowledge, of little interest to only a few people. For example, Bromkinsthorpe or John Lewe.

class="assess-c " style="color:inherit; background: Template:Class/colour; text-align: center; " | C	The article is of an acceptable quality.
class="assess-start " style="color:inherit; background: Template:Class/colour; text-align: center; " | Start	The article provides some meaningful content.
