Goals

  • Expand WP coverage of micronations – unrecognised, ephemeral state-like entities.
  • Create guidelines for articles about micronations.
  • Create standardised templates for inclusion in articles about micronations.
  • Improve the quality and volume of reference sources, and expand the use of inline citations in articles about micronations.
  • Improve the amount and quality of free-use and fair-use images in articles about micronations.
Scope
  • The project covers all articles about micronations, and articles about related topics (e.g. biographies of micronation founders). All of these articles should be contained in the Category:Micronations or one of its subcategories.

Open tasks

  • Republic of Molossia – Needs to be re-written to conform with numerous WP policies. And, it says "in the U.S.", which is not true. Molossia is surrounded by, not in, the U.S.
  • New Utopia – Article needs to be re-written, as content and tone of recently added material was found to be inaccurate and legally contentious. There is ongoing discussion on the article talk page concerning this.
  • Grand Duchy of Avram – Existing references need to be cited in-line.
  • Sovereign State of Aeterna Lucina – Additional media references need to be sourced and added as citations.
  • Aerican Empire – Wholesale cleanup required to conform with WP policies.
  • Kingdom of Elleore – Needs significant expansion, addition of references and citations.
  • Ladonia (micronation) – Add in-line citations.
  • Wirtland – Needs to be updated in connection with release of gold coin, creation of Global Antiwar Party, other developments
  • Holy Empire of Reunion – There are many references to be added (more than 20) that are on scanned images that can be found here <link redacted> and they should be cited in-line
  • Slabovia – Draft Article exists but can't get approval for posting. Slabovia was host to MicroCon 2019 in Hamilton, Ontario[1].
  • Aynvaul – Draft Article exists but need help finding more sources before Draft:Aynvaul can be approved. Aynvaul was on the list of attending micronations to MicroCon 2017 hosted by the Kingdom of Ruritania in Atlanta, Georgia[2], the micronation itself is located on Long Island, New York[3][4][5]
  • Kingdom of Ruritania – There was a mention of this micronation on the page for Ruritania however it was removed. This micronation is significant in that it is one of the major organizers to MicroCon, having hosted MicroCon 2017[6], is located at an "embassy" in Atlanta, Georgia[7] This micronation can either be added to the existing fictional country page as a footnote or its own page can be created for the same reasons a different page was created for Molossia to distinguish it from the historical Molossian Kingdom in Greece.

Note: Neither the FA nor the GA are exactly a micronation nor are they related to any and neither could use the Template:Tl appropriately. The most substantial micronation, Sealand, would rather be referred to as a microstate and belong to Wikipedia:WikiProject European Microstates, but most others agree that the gap between Sealand and, say, the Vatican City is large.
