Naming of articles
- Novels: Articles regarding Balzac's novels should be named by their original French title. If disambiguation is required, use: French title (novel).
- English titles redirecting to original French titles: Variant titles of Balzac's works in English and alternative misspellings without diacritical or accent marks should serve as redirects to the original title of the novel. For instance: Colonel Chabert should redirect to Le Colonel Chabert (novel).
- Plays: Articles regarding Balzac's plays should be named by their original French title. If disambiguation is required, use: French title (play).
- Characters: Articles regarding notable characters that appear in Balzac's novels and plays should be named in French.
- Film/TV versions: Articles regarding films or TV miniseries made from Balzac's work should be named with the original title from the country where it was first released, and in the format Film title (film). If there is more than one film, use: Film title (1993 film).

If the novel/play was made into a film, add to the introduction paragraph something similar to the following example:
- This novel/play was adapted for the 1994 film Colonel Chabert directed by Yves Angelo.
Films: In the article regarding a film derived or adapted from the novel or play, we should start with a pro forma introduction:
- Le Colonel Chabert (English: Colonel Chabert) is a 1994 French film directed by Yves Angelo and starring Gérard Depardieu, Fanny Ardant and Fabrice Luchini. It is derived from the 1832 novel Le Colonel Chabert by French novelist and playwright Honoré de Balzac (1799-1850).
