Make the Aztec article a "featured article (FA)"

To do: The Aztec article is now a good article. Time to start working on getting it to be a featured article. --Richard 17:35, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

I have requested peer review for the Aztec article as a way of getting feedback on how to improve that article to featured status. Please make any suggestions for improvement here.

To do before requesting peer review:

1. In-line references. Very important.
2. A few more pictures – definitely a map of the empire (for government section) with Tenochtitlan and other important cities or territories, homelands of other groups and cultures
3. Something on architecture
4. Need some text on archeology / important sites
5. Pay attention to the use of Nahuatl words, when too many are used it is difficult for reader.
6. Relations with other groups (Mixtec etc.), history of Aztec conquest of neighbouring groups (is very short now)

• The article should not become any longer. From now on, information should only be added to the various subpages. The main article can still be fixed, clarified and summarized here and there, but should not be expanded. Make the Spanish conquest of Mexico article a "good article (GA)"

To do: make Spanish conquest of Mexico good, then featured.

We're not too far away from good. See comments left by reviewer on Talk:Spanish conquest of Mexico.

3. Review the title and intro section of the Spanish conquest of Mexico article, specifically in light of the fact that there are two articles Spanish conquest of Mexico and Spanish conquest of Yucatan. Should the Spanish conquest of Mexico article be more properly titled Spanish conquest of the Aztec empire? --Richard 04:34, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

5. There should be an Aztec architecture article. There are articles on Maya architecture and Inca architecture. I have put this on the list of requested articles. --Richard 04:44, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

Adopt an article

Similar to the Collaboration of the week, but on a smaller scale, you might want to "adopt" an article. This would involve doing the research, writing, and picture-taking (if possible) for either a non-existent article or a stub. Of course, everyone else can still edit an adopted article, and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while, to try and build up the number of quality articles the Project has produced.
