- Suspected sockpuppets
- Evidence submitted by Awadewit
Three separate sections have been started by three separate editors (Template:Ul, Template:Ul, and Template:Ul) at Talk:Joseph Priestley regarding the alignment of the lead image. There was a recent RfC over this dispute and these editors are returning to the issue to argue the same point. I do not know who the puppetmaster is behind this accounts.
- First edit was to move the image at Joseph Priestley with the edit summary "corrected alignment". How could a new user know what the "correct" alignment is?
- Second edit is a complicated post at Talk:Joseph Priestley with diffs and impeccable formatting.
- Has made only three edits to Wikipedia, all concerning this dispute.
- Argues to right-align the image.
- Username contains the word "soc".
- The user edits the following articles, which are biographies of scientists and thinkers similar to Joseph Priestley and similar to articles edited by Template:Ul: James Keir, Thomas Day, John Baskerville, Francis Galton, Samuel Galton, Jr., John Whitehurst, Jonathan Stokes.
- Fourth edit was changing the alignment of the lead image at Joseph Priestley with the edit summary "I moved the picture again", although the account had never moved the image before.
- Argues for right-alignment of image; IP becomes Lunarsoc here
- The user edits articles similar to Template:Ul. They are about similar kinds of scientists and scientific topics (generally 18th and 19th century scientists and scientific topics): John Kerr (physicist), Kerr effect, Joseph Black, Dilatometer, Cathetometer, Pneumatic trough
- Complains about left-alignment of image
All three editors have used the language of "against the grain" and used the idea in their section headers, see here, here, and here.
I've never submitted anything here before, so please let me know if I need to correct anything. Thanks. Awadewit (talk) 22:59, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Both PeterSymonds and I think there is enough evidence here to run the check, as it cannot be identified if all three or perhaps just two are sockpuppets without a checkuser.
