Script error: No such module "user". Hi, I have been an active contributor since late February. I'm mostly involved in reverting vandalism, translating articles and helping users out on the Bootcamp IRC channel and the Help desk. I'd like to see how I'm doing as a Wikipedian, and would appreciate any feedback or comments. Thanks! Tangotango 10:12, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Questions

  1. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
Yes, perhaps the longest article I've translated at the moment is National Center Test for University Admissions. I'm happy with the WikiProject I created, WikiProject Trains in Japan, although activity there has been a bit sporadic as of late. I also enjoy assisting the many users who seek out help in the form of requests to the Help Desk, the Template:Tl template and to the Bootcamp on IRC. Recently, I've helped create Wikipedia:Requests for feedback, which I think fills a gap in the Wikipedia article-polishing/feedback system.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Reverting vandalism and doing new page patrol, which I also do frequently, brings with it its fair share of trouble, ranging from users who don't want their POV articles removed, to vandals who are plain rude. I think I've managed to deal with this quite well, and I have apologized in cases where my edits were problematic in any way. I have been involved in some intense debate at the AfD for Islamophobia, which was essentially solved by my citing a dictionary. There have also been cases where new users have submitted an autobiographical article, which I have tagged for AfD, leading to some contention (such as at the recently deleted Zeta Sigma Phi). This has taught me the importantance of properly welcoming newcomers, and explaining the policies and guidelines that apply here.
