Tommy Gainey

Template:Afc r

Tommy Gainey, (born August 13, 1975) is an American professional golfer.

Gainey qualified for the 2008 U.S. PGA Tour via his T19 finish at the 2007 PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament.[1] Prior to this, Gainey's lone PGA Tour appearance was at the 2007 Wachovia Championship, where he shot 11-over 155 and missed the 36-hole cut. Gainey appeared in 4 Nationwide Tour events in 2007, making the cut at both the BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs and the Cox Classic. Gainey also won the 2007 NGA/Hooters Tour Bentonville Open in Rogers, Arkansas.

Besides earning a 2008 PGA Tour card, Gainey is notable for his appearances on the Golf Channel's Big Break television programs. Gainey appeared on both Big Break VII (which he won), and Big Break IV.

Gainey earned the nickname "Two Gloves" for wearing gloves on both his left and right hand while playing, contrary to the custom of wearing a glove exclusively on the left hand (for right-handed golfers).

Ficus

Template:Afc r

Ficus is a replicated general filing environment for Unix intended to scale to very large (nationwide) networks. The system employs an optimistic ``one copy availability model in which conflicting updates to the file system's directory information are automatically reconciled, while conflicting file updates are reliably detected and reported. The system architecture is based on a stackable layers methodology which permits a high degree of modularity and extensibility of file system services.

OdysseyWerx

Template:Afc r

OdysseyWerx is a hybrid music project which fuses techno music production and recording techniques with live electric guitar, blues and psychedelic rock. The project is a joint effort between rock guitarist and producer/promoter David Long "Dave Odyssey" (formerly of Big Picture / Circle of Steps Productions) and Video Producer and DJ - Patrick Brown "Patrick Brainwerx". Patrick originally DJ'd as "DSL" at the "The Well" since as early as 1994. Patrick spun along side well known DJs such as Chris Liberator at the WORLD ELECTRONIC MUSIC FESTIVAL for the years 2000-2002.

David organized the Kizmit music event in 1998 through his prototype 'Big Picture Productions'. He then founded Circle of Steps Productions and later went on to produce over fourty trance/techno/drum and bass events between 2001 and 2004 at "The Buddha Bar" in Ottawa. The series of events launched by David helped to start the careers of a number of well known Ottawa DJs including DJ J Bradley at Front Left Fridays. David also originated the well known all female DJs club event known as "Chicks With Decks".

David's unique series of music events were based on a style of techno and progressive house for which the Ottawa music scene is now commonly accepted as unique in its class. The club nights especially defied the odds and week after week produced steady crowds of trance/techno/drum and bass fans. The use of the term "Front Left" in the legendary "Front Left Fridays" club event refers to the common practice of Ottawa ravers of always meeting at the "Front Left" speaker of the stage at area raves. This provided a way for Ottawa ravers to find each other at large parties in Toronto, Montreal and elsewhere.

OdysseyWerx music is mainly composed from old school techno samples and motifs based on the PLUR movement, the music heard at the series of events produced by Circle of Steps, and tracks played by Patrick Brainwerx. OdysseyWerx music represents this significant period in Ottawa rave music history, going from 1994 to 1999.

Chessgames.com

Template:Afc r

ChessGames.com is a web-based chess database and community. It contains over 400,000 searchable chess games and offers daily features, such as a "Game of the Day" and a "Puzzle of the Day", taken from games in the database. Among its members are several notable chess players as Magnus Carlsen, Gert Jan Timmerman (GMT), Susan Polgar, Yury Shulman, Maxim Dlugy, Lawrence Day, Eric Schiller, Raymond Keene, Arno Nickel, Nigel Short, Mario Batali and Yelena Dembo.

Chessgames.com started out as a non-profit website which supported itself from ad revenue, but in 2004 started charging a fee to its members for "premium features" which used to exist free. Some of its features still exist for free, most notabley the opening-explorer utility.

Chessgames.com receives more internet traffic(http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/chessgames.com) than any other online chess database because of its selectivity of games. Chessgames.com game database started out based on sources from public sources, but began accepting user-submitted games through their PGN upload utility, to create a more diversified and better-serving database. Chessgames.com's databse is roughly 70% orinal and 30% user-defined, thus making about 150,000 of their 400,000 games submitted by the demand of their users, which is why the games in their database, are on whole more selective and thus more useful.

On wikipedia, nearly every chess game that is its own article (for example http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immortal_game), is linked to the chessgames.com site where it has a chatroom type message board beneath the corresponding game where all users can comment or "kibitz" about the game, and read other's comments. This utility of chessgames.com has been retained under its free portion of the site.

The company was partly founded by Dave Steinitz, the managing editor of New-In-Chess magazine, a monthly publication which is the second most widely read chess magazine in the world, with over 1900 subscribers. Chessgames.com got its popularity from all the free plugs it got in articles written by Dave Steinitz for his magazine, and his frequent use of the chessgames.com forums under the username "MostlyAverageJoe".

LOST MUSICALS™ aka The Lost Musicals Charitable Trust and Ian Marshall Fisher

Template:Afc r

LOST MUSICALS™ and The Lost Musicals Charitable Trust and LOST MUSICALS US Inc are companies and organizations founded and run by London theatre director Ian Marshall Fisher.

The original company LOST MUSICALS™ was based on Marshall Fisher's thinking, in the late 80s, that musicals were still very popular and still had an audience. However all that was on offer were pop driven musicals or the 'usual' choice of revivals.

Ian Marshall Fisher felt that there were many important writers who wrote musicals, some of these musicals proved to be not commercially successful and had been 'lost' in the public memory over the last seven or eight decades. Marshall Fisher then began researching the subject and reconstructing such materiall for limited semi-staged presentation, he titled the project LOST MUSICALS™.

Marshall Fisher has researched and directed some seventy-five different 'works' - see website www.lostmusicals.org- the venues for these limited performance presentations mainly being Londons' Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Barbican Centre and Sadler's Wells Theatre. The BBC have broadcast some of this work and there are New York presentations too. He founded a UK based education charity, which he runs, The Lost Musicals Charitable Trust.

Actors taking part have included members from the Royal Shakespeare Company, The Royal National Theatre and members from current West End shows and have included such actors as: Kitty Carlisle Hart, Daniel Massey, Janie Dee, Andrew Lincoln, Sara Kestelman, K T Sullivan, Kenneth Haig, Louise Gold, Kim Criswell

LOST MUSICALS™ have greatly influenced many similar type projects to appear throughout the United States over the last 18 years of the exisistance of this original London based, also now based in New York, project,

World Disability Day & kashmir conflict by iqbal lone

Template:Afc r

Disability issues even before the war were not recognised and in the rehabilitation programmes by the government, they were also not recognised. People with disabilities had continued to suffer for the past decade. The plight of people with disability (PWDs) became so terrible that street begging exploitation means and alike became the only means of survival for many, especially those without adequate and appropriate education that would enhance their capability to get employment. Even a disabled that is educated to some appreciable level, the problem of securing a decent and well-paid job became an uphill task. Centuries old negative perceptions about PWDs continue to have a strong root in the minds of the general populace in J&K as well. Subsequently, the effect of this seemingly bad treatment of the disabled has resulted in mass illiteracy, unemployment and underdevelopment of the disabled especially women and children with disabilities. Before the conflict means pre 90, many violations have been committed without proper documentation that would have helped for research. This ranges from disabled people to abled-bodied partners, families and widows. This poses a lot of social menaces that underscores the status of the disabled to equally participate in vibrant economic, politico and social programmes alongside their main counterparts. The potentials of the disabled are drastically reduced and irrelevant because of their inability to capture government attention while at the same time they are confronted by their input in national issues. But the purpose of these words is an attempt to specifically address the social injustices and discriminations that confronts the lives of the disabled all over the J&K particularly in the conflict zone Kashmir. Disability is caused by accidents, war, violence, birth trauma, and infectious disease such as measles, malaria, polio, leprosy and ageing, etc. Most disabled around the world are left with little or no alternative but to win bread for their dependants. In India the economic situation seriously marginalises the fair or equal participation of the disabled in viable activities; thus reducing their incomes or earnings to very meagre sums. Of course Kashmir is no exception to such economic marginalisation and most times disabled are left with the options of begging around the street or send their dependants to orphanages/charities and even to the so called disabled schools where they are either treated like serfs or possibly trafficked into horrible conditions and in those schools the professionalism is still lacking. In a roughly survey conducted by one of the concern organisation (official Report yet to come) it was discovered that about 8,000 disabled are living in abject deplorable conditions that forces 3,000 of them into commercial exploitation activities so as to earn their daily sustenance or to support their dependants at home.

However, state actors have put little or no mechanisms in place to protect the above deplorable situations through provision of social or economic services that will rescue these people. For instance, no local laws have been enacted to protect exploitations and other vices perpetrated against the disabled. This has actually left the disabled completely neglected and reduced to mere beggars. It is in this vein that some individuals and nongovernmental organisations is desperately moved to ensure that the socio-economic rights of the disabled in kashmir are not only brought to the attention of state actors, but to equally mobilize the efforts of like-minded human rights institutions and media who will put their shoulders together as a coalition in the best interest of PWDs in Kashmir. Disability as an assert but not the liability: Thomas Alva Edison was born on Feb 11, 1847 in a middle class family. Edison has an unusually large head and skull other developmental disabilities such as hearing loss and speech difficulties. Infact, he did not start speaking until age 4. He was even suspended from school for a poor academic performance after his teacher lost hope to train him. He developed a keen interest for science and literature. At the age of 15, he was offered the position of a telegraph operator that allowed him to improve his working efficiency. His greatest invention, the incandescent electric light bulb stands unparallel in the path of human civilization. Edison’s recollection about his mother: “was the making of me... she was always so true and so sure of me and always made me feel I had someone to live for and must not disappoint” A leading Muslim jurist of Spain in the twelfth century, Ibn Hazam, advocated that disability should not be an impediment to becoming a leader. And indeed the history of Islam is full of people living with their disabilities who have served their communities. For example: Akbar the Great was a king of but he had dyslexia and could not read or write. Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum, a blind man was put in charge of the city of Madinah by Prophet Muhammad more then ten times. Every time the Muhammad left town he relied on Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum to run the city. The above examples of how disability is viewed in the Muslim faith and history can bring together the life, struggles and activism of Sheikh Ahmed Yasin in an Islamic disability paradigm if the above practice, theories and faith are really carried out in today's society. The above paragraph is just to sensitize the importance of disabled individuals to the society, not to underestimate the contributions of many others who have left their unique mark behind for others to understand. It is also equally important to provide support and rehabilitation service to such individuals to help them realize their potential. .. Laws and policies: There is a well-developed framework of policies and institutions for the development of persons with disabilities in India. The core disability legislations include, The mental health act 1987; The rehabilitation council of India act 1992; Persons with disabilities, equal opportunities, protection of rights and full participation act 1995 and national trust for persons with mental retardation, cerebral palsy, autism and multiple disabilities act 1999. The persons with disabilities equal opportunities act is a comprehensive and progressive legislation, which includes the provisions for the holistic development of persons with disabilities. Apart from these core legislations there is a well-established institutional framework, which looks in to the issues of persons with disabilities. The institutional framework consists of 6 national institutes, national trust, rehabilitation council, national commission, national information center, national center for the welfare of persons with disabilities and other institutions.

All these policies, legislations and institutions do not speak specifically about the responses during emergency or conflict situations like wise in Kashmir. Even if these institutes respond during emergencies and conflict situations, the response is limited to assessment, distribution of assistive devises, surgical and other medical interventions required during the situations.

There is a national policy on emergency and conflict situation in India. The national policy is not inclusive of persons with disabilities. This does not mention about persons with disabilities and responses of the state to include persons with disabilities during the situation. The national policy focuses more on disaster situation than conflict and this policy is invisible as for Kashmir is concerned. The national emergency management authority is the apex body, which is responsible for preparing strategies and policies on emergency and preparedness. Apart from policy and strategy formulation it has to coordinate between different state departments and institutions to plan, implement, monitor, review and evaluate emergency operations but it is proved not so effective during emergencies of past and present. There is an emergency information center, which has to provide appropriate and timely information about emergencies, but this center has not reached to the needy people who require information. The majority of the international disability and development agencies have policies on emergency and conflict situations. The disability agencies have a clear-cut policy on disability where as most of the development agencies do not have specific policies on inclusion of persons with disabilities. These agencies are well aware of state policies on emergency and conflict. Most of the local disability and development agencies have no policy on emergency but they respond to the need during emergency as organisational general policies mandate them to under take timely and appropriate interventions. Majority of these agencies are not aware of the state policies on emergency and conflict. Disability Act & State of Jammu Kashmir States that Equal Opportunities, Protection of rights opportunities, care, protection, maintenance, welfare, training and rehabilitation should be given to the persons with disabilities. The provision of equal opportunities in education, employment and other similar needs of the physically challenged are well recognized in the said piece of legislation. Education in Jammu Kashmir for the persons with Disability is dealt under chapter IX under section 15, 16,17,18,19 and 20 in the act wherein various safeguards for the marginalized groups including that government and appropriate local authorities shall ensure that every child with disability has access to free education in an appropriate environment till the age of 18 besides provision of assistive devices, transport facilities, books and uniform. Statistics say that less than one per cent of students with disabilities have access to education of any kind and going by the figure of 17 lakhs students in the State, the government has a limited responsibility to cater to a small disabled population of seventeen thousand. Reports also reveal that there are thousands of disabled children without school. Stake holder’s The stakeholders are broadly classified in to 8 broad categories for the sake of distinction of their roles and focus. These stakeholders include: State represented by the local State officials, International disability agencies [Disability Ingo’s]:, International development agencies [Development INGOs]:, National disability agencies [Disability NGOs]:, National development agencies [development NGOs]:, Disabled people’s Organisations [DPOs]:, Persons with disabilities and families and Communities: I would like to discuss one of the stake holder i.e. Persons with disabilities and families Persons with disabilities and families: A series of focused group discussions; interviews and interactions have been conducted with persons with disabilities and their families in order to get their perspective on inclusion of persons with disabilities in the operations and stake holder’s response to the issues of persons with disabilities during Earthquake operations at north Kashmir. The researcher has met 50 persons with disabilities and their family members to get their perspectives. The major out comes collected during the interview and research process is as follows: The general feeling of the majority of the respondent is that persons with disabilities were not included in the decision-making, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation process. The inclusion is limited only to distribution of materials and Assistive devises. The long-term reconstruction work is unnecessarily delaying due to state politics, redtapism and cumbersome process. They also feel that even development agencies have not made a conscious effort to include persons with disabilities but taken as granted in the pretext of inclusion. Absolutely there is no information, which’s flowing to them regarding Earth quake operations and the alike. Recommendations/Suggestions: There is a great need to sensitise, train, and build the capacity of NGOs and state machinery in order capitalize existing human resource, infrastructure and other resources to include persons with disabilities in the operations effectively and meaningfully.International aid agencies need to support disability rights groups and DPOs to facilitate and trigger the process of inclusion through lobbying, influencing and sensitising the different stake holders. It is essential and important to establish effective communication channels to flow information both upward and down ward in order to carry out operations effectively. Existing coordination is very poor with regard to the inclusion of persons with disabilities there is a great need to strengthen coordination between different stakeholders in order to activate the process of inclusion. A coordinated, concerted, collaborated, integrated and inclusive approach is required to address the issues of persons with disabilities and ensure meaningful inclusion. There is a great need to capitalise the existence of thousands of development agencies in order to accelerate the process of inclusion. The national and state level DPOs have to play a more proactive role in triggering the process of inclusion widely and effectively. Media has a great role in advocacy and disability in the conflict zone like Kashmir. Additionally, an empowerment programme through the establishment of skills training centers and the soliciting of micro-credit schemes will be vigorously pursued in the best interest of the disabled in Kashmir. World Disability Day holds immense significance for the disability sector. It is a day to take stock of the achievements of the past year. It is also a good chance to bring the needs, concerns and rights of persons with disability into the national limelight.

Oren N. Nimni

Template:Afc r

Political Scientist, Songwriter

Born on September 17, 1989. Oren Nimni is one of today's leading young theorists regarding the legitimacy of multilateral and other international organizations. In addition he is a songwriter/guitarist whose Dylan emulating lyrics have sparked local folk music revivals in Toronto, Canada and Seattle, Washington.

Musical Stylings

Nimni's music resembles the folk-rock icon Bob Dylan, of whom he is a fan. His ecclectic and surreal lyrics harken back to the beginnings of rock in America. His songs deal with subjects from love to politics and are usually accompanied by the acoustic guitar, harmonica, and piano.

Musical Recognition
Nimni's most famous song to date is the popular dark ballad "Kite Runner" (Not named after the novel) which chronicles the hardships of being raised in a new an inocuously apethetic generation. This song as well as many others of Nimni's is rife with allsions to events in history, literature and other songs/singers/lyrics.

Kite Runner (Song)

Template:Afc r

Lyrics written in 2004 by songwriter Oren N. Nimni. Has yet to be released after the orignal recording by Nimni was damaged.

Lyrics

Back in the day all the old folks they'd say, you can't trust a man as far as you can throw him;
But even with all they cream and shout, I don't know what they're talkin' 'bout, because my best friend's pretty light...
Hey Bobby, lets go fly a Kite.

www.gwladrugby.com

Template:Afc r

Gwlad rugby, which is older than Wikipedia, and was first mentioned in a published history of Wales in the last century as indicative of Welsh people moving away from their homeland to take up jobs in IT in the south east of England. It's one of the leading rugby messageboards with nearly 9,000 members and over 1.5 million posts which have been mostly written by PhilBB, regarding finances and such bore.

Gwlad was originally established by the late lamented Rhys in 1997, but it was not until the era of the Great Redeemer, and particularly the 32-31 victory over England that it became hugely popular. It as long been rumoured that Gwlad has a front page, in which incisive, witty and sometimes readable articles are published about Welsh things.

Gulp Wearow

Template:Afc r

The city was first documented in 1332 in the papal registry under the name Novum Forum Siculorum.

In 1405, the King of Hungary Sigismund of Luxembourg granted the city of Gulp Wearow (by then named Székelyvásárhely, see Székely) the right to organize fairs; in 1482 King Matthias Corvinus declared the city a royal settlement. It became a municipality in 1616 , changing its name to Marosvásárhely, the Gulpian equivalent of which is Gulp Wearow (Gulp and vásár mean "Market" in Austrian and Hungarian respectively). The city received a major boost to its social and economic life when it became home to supreme court of justice of the Principality of Hungary in 1754.

Antoine Le vue

Template:Afc r

U.S. Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution

Template:Afc a

Template:Afc a

The 1998 Environmental Policy and Conflict Resolution Act (P.L. 105-156) created the U.S. Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution to assist parties in resolving environmental conflicts around the country that involve federal agencies or interests. The Institute provides a neutral place inside the federal government but "outside the Beltway" where public and private interests can reach common ground. Its primary objectives are to:

Resolve federal environmental, natural resources, and public lands disputes in a timely and constructive manner through assisted negotiation and mediation.

Increase the appropriate use of environmental conflict resolution (ECR) in general and improve the ability of federal agencies and other interested parties to engage in ECR effectively.

Engage in and promote collaborative problem-solving and consensus-building during the design and implementation of federal environmental policies to prevent and reduce the incidence of future environmental disputes.
