Dave "Rasta" Rastovich

Dave Rastovich is a renowned free-surfer sponsored by the major surf company, Billabong. Dave Rastovich is often referred to as "Rasta". Rastovich began surfing competitively at the age of 5 when his family moved to the Gold Coast of Australia. He surfed competitively in order to become an established surfer. After he became highly ranked, Rasta approached Billabong to allow him to become a free-surfer. The company agreed to Rasta's terms, and Rasta has been surfing as a free-surfer ever since. Now Rasta surfs for the enjoyment of it, rather than for the money. Rasta does not consider himself a member of any particular religion, but he does meditate. Much of his life is dominated by his surfing and what he experiences surfing.

Rasta's debut film is called "Life as Liquid" and was shot over an 18 month period. The film focusus on living a "free" lifestyle with no plans. The idea portrayed is that intuition and chance should influence your life. Rasta is also featured surfer in the movie "Blue Horizon" which tells how he differs from competitive surfers. The movie focuses on surfer Andy Irons and touches on Kelly Slater. Rasta, who used to compete with the surfers, now is a freesurfer sponsored by Billabong.

Rastovich has launched a campaign to end cruelty towards whales and dolphins. He has launched "Minds in the Water", which is a grassroots campaign to save marine animals. Rasta recently made a bold declaration against Japanese fisherman that slaughter dolphins. Rastovich led a paddle-out that included international musicians, surfers, and other people in honor of dolphins that were slaughtered in a killing cove in Taiji, Japan. Rastovich was accused of protesting Japanese fishermen by paddling out to the middle of the water. The fishermen, who supposedly slaughterd hundreds of dolphins off the coast of Japan, were very angry and claim that Rasta is trying to hurt their business. Rasta denies the claims that he led a protest, and he claims to have a high respect for the Japanese people. However, Rasta is glad that the world became more aware of the issues concerning dolphins that are killed and the high mercury levels in meat that comes from Japanese fishermen.

Hypogegrammeni

The hypogegrammeni (also called iota subscriptum) is an editorial marking invented by the librarians at Alexandria to denote the absence of iotas which were used in the long diphthongs alpha-iota, eta-iota, and omega-iota. In Koine Greek, the iotas used in long diphthongs stopped being pronounced, largely due to streamlining of the language. However, many times, these iotas were essential to differentiate between different usages of the same word (e.g. the only notable difference between the nominative and dative singular of a first declension feminine noun is that iota.). Because of spacing, it would have been impossible to fit the iota on the line beside the letter which preceded it. Therefore, the iota was written under the letter to save space. Although the library of Alexandria and its texts burnt, the practice was carried over in clinical copies of certain texts, and the hypogegrammeni was used often by the Greek Orthodox Church (which used polytonic orthography for ceremonial purposes) and mediaeval Byzantine copyists. In modern renderings of ancient Greek, the iota is still carried subscriptum, even though it is now common practice to pronounce the iota indicated by the hypogegrammeni.

Freddie Prosser

Freddie Prosser or Prossner was a Canadian professional wrestler, known by his ring name Freddie Sweetan, who competed in North American regional promotions including the National Wrestling Alliance as well as Grand Prix Wrestling, Maple Leaf Wrestling and Stampede Wrestling during the 1960s and 70s, most notably teaming with Paul Peller as the masked tag team The Butchers.

Career

Born in Shenstone, a small village in Albert County, New Brunswick, Prosser met 7-year veteran Paul Peller who persuaded him to enter professional wrestling. Training under Emile Dupree in Shediac, he eventually made his debut in 1968 teaming with Peller in Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling as The Butchers. During their time in the promotion, they proved a popular tag team headlining sold out events in Calgary and Edmonton four weeks straight, which included had matches against football player Bob Luce and Emile Dupre.

The following year, he and Peller joined Dupre, Leo Burke and others to tour the Maritimes with Grand Prix Wrestling during the summer before retuning to Calgary before the end of the year. Wrestling under the name Freddie Sweetan, Posser teamed with Stampede Wrestling veteran "Bruiser" Bob Sweetan and eventually won the Stampede Wrestling Tag Team Championship before loosing the titles to Bud & Ray Osborne in Calgary, Alberta on April 18, 1969. He and Peller would later win the titles the following year. ^[1]

In part to an agreement with Sweetan and Leo Burke, Prosser and Sweetan began wrestling in the Kansas City-area as Killer Kox & K.O. Kox with Bob Geigel's NWA Central States. Feuding with Bob Geigel & The Stomper over the NWA Central States North American Tag Team titles, he later faced Geigel in a singles match the following year on November 5, 1970. ^[2]

While in the United States, he would also team with fellow Canadians The Beast in NWA Texas and Michel "Le Justice" Dubois in the Mid-Atlantic region ^[3] who together faced Terry & Bobby Kay, George & Sandy Scott, Big Boy Brown & Klondike Bill, Les Thatcher & Nelson Royal ^[4] and, most notably The Royal Kangaroos whom they had a five week feud with in 1973. During their time in the Carolinas, they would also face J.J. Dillon in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1972. ^[5]

Returning to the Maritimes during the summer months, he also had a successful run with Eric Pomeroy feuding with The Beast, who enlisted Rudy Kay and Leo Burke, fighting over the ESA International Tag Team Championship throughout the early 1970s. He and The Beast would also engage in several single matches as well. He and Pomeroy would win the ESA International Tag Team titles three times before loosing the titles to The Beast & Rudy Kay in Halifax, Nova Scotia on October 12, 1971. He would later team with a number of tag team partners including Kurt von Steiger, Mr. X and J.J. Dillon defeating The Beast & Bobby Kay in September 1973.

Loosing single matches to Jacques Rougeau and Johnny Valentine at the Maple Leaf Gardens in February 1974, ^[6] the titles were later vacated when Dillon did not return to the promotion the following summer, however he and Michel Dubois would reunite to regain the titles defeating The Beast & Bobby Kay in July 1974.

That same year, while visiting with Prosser and Pomeroy in their motor home, Prosser's father told Pomeroy that he was going to return to his house and commit suicide. After he had left, Pomeroy and Prosser returned to his house to find several RCMP officers were already at the scene where they informed the two Prosser's father had killed himself with a shotgun from the house.

After wrestling his last match in Saint John, New Brunswick, he held a party to celebrate his 36th birthday at his summer cabin at MacFarlane Bridge, only 15 miles southeast of Moncton. Although it is unknown what happened during the hours after his friends had left the party, sometime during the night a fire broke out in the cabin resulting in Prosser's death. A later investigation by the RCMP concluded that that Prosser, whose body had been found near the front door, had been trapped in the cabin during the fire and died of smoke inhalation. The official cause of the fire was stated to been accidental, most likely having been caused by Prosser having fallen asleep with a lit cigar in his hand.

However, wrestlers such as Emile Dupree have stated they believe the fire may have been started by a charcoal barbecue. Having been known to remain hot after being shut off, the grill may have either caused the fire or might have exploded. This theory was supported by local Halifax newspapers and, according to one news account, officials had "declined to reveal circumstances surrounding the blaze" although an autopsy was performed at a local Moncton hospital.

Pomeroy, who had been unable to attend the party due to a prior commitment in Mocaton, was asked by Prosser's mother to take over the funeral service. Prosser would later be cremated and buried alongside his father. ^[7]

Narastash

The term 'Narastash' was coined in 1989 by a relatively minor Australian club performer Peter Serino. Narastash is said to be a fictional character created as a famous and rich alter ego in order to gain entry into exclusive clubs, restaurants and venues.

The line 'do you know who I am....I am Narastash' bacame popular to his inner circle of friends eventually spreading to others who used it with regular success. His notable achievemnts were to obtain backstage access to an Australian Paul McCartney concert in the 1990's as well other other concerts including Bon Jovi, George Michael and Madonna.

It has also been used to gain preferred seating at many Sydney restaurants including Restaurant 41.

Recently it has been used by prank callers and to 'pick up the ladies'.

It's most notable use has been during the recent election campaign when a person claining to be from a sydney radio station managed to ask Foreign Minister Alexander Downer if '(he) would be using his position of authority to save Narastash', to which he replied 'I am unaware of his situation however if you advise my office we can look into it'.

Wolfgang Musculus, born Müslin (September 10, 1497 in Duss (Dieuze), Lothringen - August 30, 1563 in Bern) was a Protestant theologian of the Reformation.

Born in the village of Duss (Moselle) in a German-speaking area (it had been French-speaking until the 30 Years War) he foreshadows in himself in a prescient manner all his region's history. A lover of song and of knowledge, of languages, Humanism and religion, he was swept up, along with the rest of his countrymen into the tempests and tears of his age. His great skill has made him known all over Europe and the oral tradition of his songs still rings today in the temples of the Reformation.

In 1527 he left the Benedictine monastery at Lixheim (now in the area of Moselle) to serve as deacon at the cathedral of Notre-Dame of Straßburg, at the time a parish of Augsburg. After 17 years of service he left the town after the introduction of the Augsburg Interim, came to Switzerland, and he was professor of theology at Bern from 1549.

Jeffrey Schlichter

History

Jeffrey "J.T., J. Phoenix, & 8 Iron" Schlichter, was born on December 9th, 1991 in Memphis Tennessee. From the start, he was considered a musical genius. He started dancing at age teo, took three years of singing lessons and learned to play 11 instruments, including Bassoon, Contrabassoon, Bass, Guitar, Piano, and Trombone. He played with a local band known as Mike Strickland & the Usual Unusual Clowns (2004-present) as a Rhythm guitar player and backing vocals and in early 2007 formed a new band, while still playing for the other band, known as Leigh- Gypsy. Suns, and Roses, taking on the role of Lead guitar, Basist, and backing vocals. He still tours with the Clowns and Leigh- Gypsy. Suns, and Roses. In September 2007, he won the award for best new artist.

He has played on several loacal bands albums but has only produced one on his solo career, but is working on a second:

Phoenix (2006, a short 6 song EP, Life on the Road (2008), currently in recording as full length album.

Future Plans

He is currently writing his next album and plans to continue touring with both bands until the release of his next album for which he will make a small solo tour.

Mike Strickland

History

Micheal Strickland was born in Memphis and began to learn to play guitar at a young age. He playe din his first successful band at age 12 and things went up from there. After he graduated High School, he played for several notable bands. He was touring guitarist for "The Platters" and the backing guitarist for "The Barkays". He has played with and had others sit in with him such as "Shawn Lane", Mike Spacek, "Larry Lee", and "Jeffrey Schlichter" He currently plays with a 6 piece band known as Legends of Rock and a three piece band known a Mike Strickland & the Usual Unusual Clowns. He currently plays 8 instruments including guitar, bass, autoharp, harmonica, and trumpet.

Future Plans

Mike will continue touring with his bands and is currently recording the albums, Jimmy the Pervert , Eleven, and A.

ScrewBookPrices.com was started by a De Anza/San Jose State student in late 2004 who initially won a scholarship and turned it over to buy an online classified script. The only thing he had was an idea and a domain name he thought would resonate with frustrated users. He hacked the PHP script he purchased to make a customized on campus focused exchange for used books. It generated over 5,000 users in it's time and was the number 1 on campus book exchange in California, as Son promoted the site up and down the state. Son was later inspired by the Web 2.0 movement. He decided to take all the experience and feedback received to create a new dynamic book service from scratch. The site would today be called 'Pazap', an animated onomatopoeia for laser, in Son's words 'I wanted a book exchange to be focused, fast and efficient, like laser'. For the first time, Pazap integrates VoIP technology enabling users to buy and sell their books when they call into the pazap number. While on the line, the service is synced with the website.

Medical condition - 'Jimism'

A new medical phrase has been coined as a result of people enduring extended computer use in this modern age. 'Jimism', named by Dr Kelvin Groseman, a notable nuerologist, is a form of autonomous autism typically manifesting itself in a person as a trance like state, whereby the effected person will stare at a computer screen for many hours of the day and simply not move or interact with any other thing or person. Thought to be caused by unusual wave patterns generated in the frontal lobe of the brain by electro-magnetic waves and/or radiation emissions from a computer screen, 'Jimism' is becoming more prevalent throughout the world as computer use increases. The first recorded case was in Melbourne, Australia in 2001 but it is now internationally recognised as a unique and genuine condition, treatable, simply by withdrawal of affected person from computer exposure coupled with an increase in physical activity, healthy diet and increased human interaction.

Race and Competencies In reading of Prof. Wilson’s ‘gaffe’ on differential intelligences and on the huge controversy over the Herrnstein/Murray book on the Bell Curve, a related hypothesis suggests itself. There may be a series of Bell Curves, that is, normal bell shaped distributions for each of several ethno-racial groups on intelligence and other measurable traits, such as athletic competence. These would probably not be identical for the different groups but probably overlap one another to a large extent. Some would shift more to the ‘right’, that is, the higher competence scale for the particular trait, e.g., intelligence, athleticism, etc. What ever the slightly different positions on the scale, the huge overlap would indicate that individuals from every group might be of the highest achievement in any competence category

Iron-Wolf is a fictional science fiction character created by Howard Chaykin for the DC comic book Weird Worlds. The story made it's debut in Vol. 2 Issue 8 and was published Nov-Dec 1973. The plots and art was by Howard Chaykin and the script was by Denny O'Neill. Little more than a foot note in his overall career Iron-Wolf is nevertheless significant in Chaykin's career because it was the first time he was given complete artist freedom and it also featured characters and ideas he would touch on in later and arguably better works. The story was reprinted in 1987 and a newer version called "Fires of revolution" Written by Howard Chaykin and John Francis Moore; Art by Michael Mignola and Craig Russell was put out by DC as a graphic novel. The character also makes a brief cameo in Chaykin's revisionist space opera Twilight.

synopsis of first story "And there shall come a hero"

The story opens with Lord Iron-Wolf in the court of Erika Klein Hernandez head of Empire Galaktika. (Not a misspelling) He stands defiant and proud in his opposition to the command of his leader to sell the anti-gravity wood of his home world to two rather large and imposing aliens flanking her. She then tries to seduce him into meeting her demands which sickens him to the point of striking her. The large and imposing aliens then attack Iron-Wolf who easily dispatches them as well as four as yet unseen compatriots with his sword. It is at that moment that even more aliens rush into the room at the exact moment a group of actors enter who were apparently engaged to entertain the court. One of the troupe a beautiful young lady decides to help Lord Iron-Wolf by blindly firing into the horde of aliens and somehow by simply shooting one secures the two of them enough time to escape to his wooden shuttle craft. They then evade the entire planetary defense force to escape to his ship the Limerick Rake. A huge vessel of brass and the gravity defying wood of his home world. Once aboard he seems to be eager to get rid of the beautiful actress who is never named and who Lord Iron-Wolf refers to only as "Girl". For reasons never explained he becomes a pirate and in the space of one page has several adventures raiding various ships mansions and outposts growing his legend and running afoul of the Blood Legion, a race of vampires. This of course displeases the Empress who summons Omikel the head of the Blood Legion to pose as a diplomat. His mission is to go to Iron-Wolf's home and gather information about him. At that very instant after fending off an assassination attempt, Iron-Wolf is still trying to get rid of Girl and decides she'll be safest at his home on the planet Illium. Little does Iron-Wolf know that his brother Tyrone is in cahoots with Omikel and is planning to kill his brother to inherit his lands and title. After Iron-Wolf lands planet-side and Tyrone shows lecherous interest in Girl there is yet another assassination attempt from the finest gunman in the solar system who misses Iron-Wolf only to be shot down by our hero. It is then Tyrone shows his true colors and after a brief struggle and beating confesses that he was in league with the Blood Legion to sell the forests of gravity defying wood bearing trees. Iron-Wolf returns to his ship without learning of Omikal's presence in his home, or punishing his brother and seemingly finally rid of Girl. He immediately plots a course for the forests and orders the plasma torpedoes readied. Then in order to make sure that they can't fall into any one else's hands he destroys the forests. He then returns to a life of pirating and tracks his enemies to the Sargasso Sea of Space. "A warp at the edge of the galaxy where derelict ships are drawn by magnetic forces, there to rest for eternity--" Deciding to explore the abandoned wrecks he stumbles upon another beautiful woman (This time a red-head) struggling against the same race of aliens he fought in the first few pages. Defeating first the aliens and then the woman in combat he gains her trust. She tells him her name is Shebaba O'Neal and belongs to a group fighting the tyrannical Empire and seeking to establish a democracy. She offers Iron-Wolf and his men a commission in the space navy. He accepts and as a token of friendship she gives him an apple.

critical analysis

As stated earlier this story is an almost forgotten foot note in Howard Chaykin's career and nothing has been written about it. It has gaping plot holes a seemingly psychotic lead character and appears to be little more than paranoid misogynistic wish fulfillment. Despite it's problems or perhaps because of them it's a really fun read. It feels a little like a Victorian era adventure yarn. Pre-political correctness and full of gallant gentlemen who know better than they're decadent leaders or the silly fawning women who surround them. It is in this story that we see the beginning of Chaykin's ironic tone that he would become famous for and which served him better in latter works like American Flag and Twilight.

Neil is a hard working, versatile DJ, turning his decks from dirty electro/house all the way up the spectrum to full on filth, keeping the crowds firmly on the dance floor. He’s not afraid to show off his technical ability with head spinning effects and turntabalism which often lures clubbers to the DJ booth to see what the hell is going on behind there! His passion and love for the music shines through and his sets never fail to please even the most narrow minded of clubbers.

Neil C has worked with up and coming djs producing some tracks which have become favourites of the big names in hard house. We Decide - Engineered with Louis Fernio, has been a favourite in the boxes of Jp & Jukesy and Ian M who have been playing the track out to many adoring clubbers. Neil C has also gone international and collaborated with the Canadian rising star Rodi Style. Cider Tone Silly is set to show what a combination of a cider drinking Herefordian and a crazy little Canadian can do to a hard house track. Think captivating vocal, throbbing bassline and an ear piercing synth. Outside of his collaborations Neil C has been asked by 99th Floor Elevators to remix their classic hard house track "Hooked" with a dirty electro twist.

Ben Hajduk

Ben Hajduk is the pseudonym of the ghetto rapper Snoop Dogg, more commonly known as Snoop Doggy Dawg. He is currently taking a time out from his hip hop hippity rapping, and is residing in the London borough of Wands-town. Ben Hajduk/Snoop Dogg is a member of the crew (or cru) G-Unit which consists of his bredwins, Dr Dre and other rappers.

Ben Hajduk is taking the disguise of a white boi and can be seen repping his endz in a local Wands-town College. He is normally dressed in the attire of a pimp- a white fur pimp coat, a pimp shank and a jewell encrusted pimp cane. Besides studying for his PHD in shanking, he works as a local pimp, selling out his hoes.

Joe[y] Perrone

Joe Perrone (born 9 March 1968) was a member of Young Talent Time from 1980 to 1984.

Perrone originally joined YTT as his father thought it would be a good way for him to meet people. He quickly showed prodigious talent and went on to become a leading light on the show in its hey-day with his dance routines and his biggest hit a cover version of Shuduppa ya face originally by Joe Dolce.

Upon leaving the show in 1984 at the age of 16, he maintained an involvement by arranging and composing music for the show. He sometimes spoke of his inability to shake his reputation as little Joey and worked on his image for several years as a mature Joe but never seemed to regain the heights of stardom he attained on YTT.

Perrone lives in Munich Germany where he still works in dance music.

Milton J. Nieuwsma

Milton John Nieuwsma (pronounced "news-ma") (b. Sept. 5, 1941) is an American author, journalist and filmwriter noted for his work on the Holocaust. His 1998 book Kinderlager, about three young concentration camp survivors, was the basis for the 2005 Emmy Award-winning documentary, "Surviving Auschwitz: Children of the Shoah." Nieuwsma won a second Emmy in 2006 for his work on the film "Defying Hitler."

Nieuwsma was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the second of four children of John Nieuwsma, a Dutch Reformed minister, and Jean (nee) Potter, a teacher. After World War II his family moved to Bellflower, California, and later to Holland, Michigan.

After graduating from Hope College in 1963, he worked as a public information officer at Wayne State University in Detroit and hosted a weekly radio program, "The Fifth Freedom," on WQRS-FM, a Detroit fine arts station. In the late 1970s Nieuwsma began writing historical features and travel articles for the Chicago Tribune. In 1978 he received a master's degree from the University of Illinois-Springfield.

In 1994, while teaching journalism at Rutgers University in New Jersey, Nieuwsma met Tova Friedman, believed to be the youngest Auschwitz survivor, which inspired him to write Kinderlager. Friedman is one of three children featured in the book. In 2001 Kinderlager was selected by the Hogere Europese Beroepen Opleiding (Institute for Higher European Studies) in The Hague as one of the top 10 books written on the Holocaust.

In 2005 the book was reissued under the title Surviving Auschwitz: Children of the Shoah as a companion to the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) documentary which Nieuwsma wrote and co-produced. Released in 2005, the film received an Emmy Award from the Michigan chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for best historical documentary. The film also won a First Place Gold Camera Award at the International Film and Video Festival in Los Angeles. Today, "Surviving Auschwitz" is featured in many school-based Holocaust studies programs in the United States.

Nieuwsma won a second Emmy in 2006 for writing and co-producing "Defying Hitler," a documentary about a Jewish fighter in the Polish Resistance.

Nieuwsma was married February 1, 1964, to the former Marilee Gordon. They have four children, Jonathan, Gregory and Elizabeth, and four grandchildren.

Farm to Market Road 424 or FM 424 is a connector from US 377 south of Krugerville to US 380 in Cross Roads. The road continues south as Naylor Rd., taking you into Oak Point. It runs for approximately 1.5 miles in a north-south direction. No plans are currently in place to extend or widen the current road, but with the growth of the northern sections of Dallas, widening may come in the future.

CthulhuTech

CthulhuTech is a role-playing game written by Matthew Grau and Fraser McKay, developed by WildFire llc., published by Mongoose Publishing through their Flaming Cobra impring in 2007. The game is based upon the original works of H.P. Lovecraft, and inspired by mecha anime such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, Robotech, and Guyver.

Setting

CthulhuTech takes place in 2085, during the Aeon War, when the Migou have invaded the planet, and cults like the Esoteric Order of Dagon have overrun the planet. Humanity has been greatly reduced by war and chaos, and lives in fortified arcologies. However, they have the Nazzadi as allies. The Nazzadi are genetically engineered humans who used to be the Migou's slave warriors.

Humanity has also created mecha to fight against the eldritch horrors, such as the Engels. The Engels are a combination of cloned creatures and cybernetics, used by elite pilots who are in danger of going mad due to the stress of controlling such a creature.

The Tagers are a group of "holy warriors" who have bonded themselves to an alien symbiont. They are part of Eldritch Society, who fights a covert war against the evil Chrysalis Corporation, which has been taken over by cultists called the Children of Chaos.

Joseph McAuliffe is an Irish Soccer Player. Born in Cork on the 22nd of December 1986, he moved to Kilkenny where he lived throughout his childhood. Following a period playing in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, he returned to Ireland at 19 where he was quickly snapped up by Irish Soccer Giants, Wexford Youths.

Early Career

Joseph, son of Jack McAuliffe, a coal miner in Kilkenny, and Gill, an Exotic Dancer, attended school in nearby Longford where he quickly discovered that Academia was not for him. He became interested in Soccer and played with the local team Fort Rangers from the age of 6 until he was 12 where he was spotted by a Bayern Munich scout. He played several times for Bayern Munich Youths but he never made the required impact to make it into the first team.

Return

Feeling homesick and isolated from his German teammates, at 18 he returned home to Ireland where he became disillusioned with football. Pat Dolan, widely regarded as the greatest Irish Soccer manager ever, made contact with him and encouraged him to come for a trial at Wexford. McAuliffe has been a consistent first team player since joining Wexford, scoring 23 goals in 36 games in the 2006 season. In 2007 he assumed the role of captain. On becoming captain, he is quoted as saying:

I'm delighted. It's what I always wanted to lead Pat Dolan's lads onto the field.

Histoire du Tango

Histoire du Tango ("History of the Tango") is an instrumental suite in four movements composed by Argentine composer Ástor Piazzolla, creator of the nuevo tango or "new tango," which fused jazz and classical elements with the traditional Argentinean tango. Whenever or however Histoire du tango originated, it was published in 1986 for flute and guitar. Editions for other combinations of instruments are available, including for clarinet and piano, four clarinets, or saxophone quartet.
