MAYNEFRAME
The band mayneframe has been together for thrtee yearsnow, but only began performing a bit over a year ago. The band features The Ginger Pube on lead Guitar, The Mexican on Bass and The Drum Machine on Drums. The band has been performing covers since theri early days but has recently been perfoming their new son titled 'Dick Cheese and Pubic Lice'. The song recieved a welcome reception at their latest performance at TWC, where most of the schoo turned out to cheer them on. Some of the audience loved the band so much that they later got Mayneframe tattos on their arms. The band will have to disband at the end of this year as the members move off in different directions, but they will hopefully reform in the future to dominate the charts.

One I made earlier
"Here is one I made earlier" is a phrase sometimes used by television news reporters. Nowadays it is usually used jokingly and and not strictly accurately, eg. when the object in question is patently not made by the reporter.
The phrase originates from cookery programs in the early days of television when all programs were live. The presenter would show the preparation of some dish, place it in the oven to cook, reach behind the counter and produce a cooked version with the words "here is one I made earlier".
Credit for coining the phrase is given to Christopher Trace on the Blue Peter show.

Mount Rushmore Coincidences.
When You count the number of letters in our four famous Presidents appearing on Mt. Rushmore[1] [2]in the following order, you find this astounding coincidence:
Abraham Lincoln has 14 LETTERS in it... Thomas Jefferson has 15 LETTERS in it... George Washington has 16 LETTERS in it... Theodore Roosevelt has 17 LETTERS in it...
THIS SEEMS TO ALMOST "BUILD" ON THE NUMBER 13--THE NUMBER OF OUR ORIGINAL COLONIES. Also interesting, "Mount Rushmore" and "Gutzon Borglum" (the sculptor of Mt. Rushmore) have 13 LETTERS EACH.
What accounts for these and other amazing coincidences is not clear. But the Swiss psychologist and paranormal investigator Carl Gustav Jung termed the phenomenon synchronicity[3][4].
Sources
You can simply go to the Mount Rushmore Park website [5], or any place that lists the presidents on Mount Rushmore (like Wikipedia itself [6])to verify what I have said about the names. Synchronicity was proposed by the Swiss psychologist and paranormal investigator Carl Gustav Jung. There are many websites that have info on it (like for example [7]), and like wikipedia, again[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synchronicity.By the way, I shared this story with the park ranger at Mount Rushmore via email, and apparently he tells the story to tourists now too. 76.226.13.28 05:27, 8 October 2007 (UTC) Articles for creation/2007-10-08

Adams Bush Coincidences
These were the only presidents to
follow one another as father-and-son presidents. Both couples were
differentiated by a middle name or initial. Both father-presidents were VP's of charismatic conservatives that came before them, and were followed by charismatic leaders of the opposing party(both w/a "Jefferson" in their names)--ea. father serving just
one term. Both fathers started into a new decade and had a son start
into a whole new century. Adams' "A" is before Bush' "B". George Bush, Sr. and John Adams, Sr. were both born in Norfolk County, Massachusetts. Both sons had a VP whose last name began with a "C" and a wife whose first name began with an "L". Fate must not like sons to follow their fathers as pres., because neither son had a majority of the country's
support--John Q. Adams was elected by our Congress!

Tinhorn:
Michael Qunion writes on International English from a British viewpoint for World Wide Words. Noticed that Wikipedia did not have an entry for 'tinhorn'
TINHORN [Q] From I Millinger: “I’ve been watching Westerns for years and the term tinhorn is always used to describe people who are new to the West. Where did the term come from?”
[A] My guess is that either you’ve misunderstood the way people were using it, or you were actually thinking of greenhorn (a greenhorn was originally a young ox with newly grown horns; later on it came to mean anyone young or inexperienced). The usual sense of tinhorn, on the other hand, is of someone contemptible, especially a person who is pretending to have money, influence, or ability. Tinhorn has a much more interesting history than greenhorn, so having answered your query let me digress ...
To find the origin of tinhorn we must delve into the murky world of gambling with dice. There was a game in the nineteenth century called grand hazard (nothing to do, however, with the old French and British dice game from which our noun hazard derives and which was the origin of the game of craps). A cruder version of grand hazard was usually given the name chuck-a-luck in North America.
Both games were played with three dice, a chute containing a set of inclined planes that tumbled the dice as they fell, and a flat area on which the dice fell and whose layout determined whether the player had won or not. The difference between grand hazard and chuck-a-luck was that the former’s layout was much more complicated, with possibilities for betting on odds or evens or other combinations (rather like roulette); the chuck-a-luck layout consisted only of six areas numbered from one to six.
Chuck-a-luck was unsophisticated and easy to set up, so it was the province of small-time gamblers on river boats, on street corners, or in low gaming establishments. Though the proper chute was made of leather, those with limited resources used a cruder one made of tin.
The term tinhorn referred to this cheap chute. It’s actually an abbreviation of the fuller phrase tinhorn gambler. This was a term of contempt for these small-time operators of games of chuck-a-luck, whose patrons (tinhorn sports) played for small stakes. It also reflected the common view that all things made of tin were poor imitations of better quality goods (an idea that survives in our derogatory adjective tinny) and was also a pun on the existing sense of tin horn for a cheaply constructed and inharmonious musical instrument.
Tinhorn gamblers tended to make up for the poor quality of their gaming equipment by a dressy appearance and showy demeanour, from which the later sense of the word derives. In truth, they belonged with the keepers of cheap saloons and three-card trick men, down near the bottom of the social pyramid.

Wikipedia Homeschooling
wikipedia Homeshooling a new cutting edge idea. it is the idea that you can do your home scooling by searching things on the web! The creators of this amazing idea are Ryan Williams and Meagan Hogg. Ryan was homeschooled and Meagan was public schooled because her parents couldn't afford to homeschool her. one day they were just hanging out watching the Office and the main character, Michael Scott(played By Steve Carrell), was searching around on Wikipedia. the famous quote that started everything "You can find anyhting on Wikipedia!" That Day Meagan Hogg decided to quit public school and make he own homeschool.
to Homeschool on wikipedia you need to compile a list of items to learn. this should include all things a person would learn through out the years of school. for Example: Freshman List 1. Biologial Facts 2. Impressionism 3. World Maps(Geography) 4. Computer Skills 5. Driving Skillls . . . the list goes on in this manner. Once the list is completed by the supervisor(the parent or Gaurdian) the child/young Adult will then type each thing into the search box on wikipedia's home page. Each item must be studied and almost memorized for the child to be able to pass the vigorous tests provided by the supervisor. every year the subjects will get progressivly harder, only as much as common knowledge would tell you, so if a person skips a grade it will be very hard for that person to keep up and understand everything the page is saying.
If you are thinking about doing Wikipedia homeschooling then you will need a new-ish computer, apple laptops are recomended because they are amazing!!!!! if at all posible get the child a DSL connection to the internet, it will go much faster than dial-up and will encourage the learning process. Many peoople believe that this idea is complely crazy, but i feel that this way of scoolig is more effective than most, including www.redoakacademy.com.

Scott Meyer
Scott Meyer is a cartoonist and creator of the 'Basic Instructions' strip. Scott was struggling to obtain syndication for this strip with a major newspaper when he was 'discovered' by Scott Adams, creator of 'Dilbert'. Scott Adams contacted Mr Meyer and offered support and advice which has brought 'Basic Instructions' to a much wider audience, especially since Scott Adams wrote about this in his widely-followed blog DilbertBlog.
This led to an ongoing debate about the best format for Basic Instructions, of a rectangular frame divided into four segments, versus the more conventional comic strip format in three side-by-side panels.

William Ernest Metzger (September 30, 1868 - April 11, 1933) was an automotive pioneer and salesman from Detroit; he opened one of the country's first automobile dealerships, and organized a number of eearly automobile companies, including both Cadillac Motor Car Co. and E-M-F Motor Car.
Early Life
William Metzger was born in Peru, IL, in 1868. At the age of 10 he moved to Detroit with his father; he graduated from Detroit High School in 1885. He immediately got a job at Hudson & Symington furniture (owned by J. L. Hudson) (REF4).
As a young man, Metzger became enamored of bicycle riding, becoming the first president of Detroit's Wheelman's Club and finishing a number of 100-mile bicycle rides. Soon his hobby became his business: in 1891, Metzger joined Stanley B Huber to open Huber & Metzger, a bicycle shop located in the center of downtown Detroit (REF4). The store soon became one of the largest in the country, and dealt directly with suppliers in England.
Automobiles and Cadillac
In 1895, Metzger attended the world's first automobile show in London (REF1). Impressed with what he saw, he went on to visit the factories of Gottlieb Daimler and Karl Benz, then the leading automobile manufacturers in the world (albeit with less than 200 each). He returned to Detroit convinced of the automobile's future, and immediately sold his share in Huber & Metzger (REF4). Metzger built the first U. S. automobile retail showroom, which opened in 1897 (REF1), selling Waverly Electric cars (REF4). The following year, Metzger added steamers, then gasoline-powered cars built by various companies. In 1899, Metzger started selling automobiles built by Oldsmobile; in June, Metzger sold the first automobile built by the company.
In 1899, Metzger helped organize the Detroit Auto Show, only the second of its kind (REF4). The next year, he helped stage the New York Auto Show in New York's Madison Square Garden (REF1). He also promoted racing, putting up the $200 prize won by Barney Oldfield driving the Ford 999 -- a win that had a substantial impact on Henry Ford's fortunes (REF2).
In 1900, he organized the Northern Motor Car Co. Two years later, Metzger was one of the people who organized the Cadillac Motor Car Co. In 1903, with only three cars produced, Metzger took orders for 2700 cars at the New York Auto Show (REF2). The 1903 production of Cadillacs outstripped every other manufacture in the US save Oldsmobile. In 1905, Cadillac reorganized, merging with Leland & Faulconer; Metzger obtained 3000 shares of the merged company (REF4). Metzger stayed at Cadillac as sales manager until 1908 (REF4), but was looking for new challenges.
E-M-F
In that year, Metzger acquired controlling interest in the Northern Automobile Co, and Northern merged with the Wayne Automobile COmpany, controlled by Byron Everitt and Walter Flanders, to form E-M-F (Everitt-Metzger-Flanders) Company. The company arranged for Studebaker to market their cars. In 1909, EMF-Studebaker produced almost 8000 cars, making it the fifth largest auto maker in the US (REF2). However, although E-M-F was growing (it would produce 26,000 automobiles in 1911, second only to Ford), Metzger was unhappy with the partnership with Studebaker. In mid-1909, Metzger left the company, taking Byron Everitt and a $362,500 settlement with him (REF2).
With the money, Metzger and Everitt began the Metzger Motor Car Co, producing a car (called the Everitt) that was substantially similar to E-M-F's model. Metzger again used his sales skills, and the first year's production of 2500 Everitts were pre-sold before the first one rolled off the assembly line (REF2).
With Everitt and Metzger gone, things were unsettled at E-M-F. Despite strong sales, infighting was rampant, and in 1912 Walter Flanders left, joining Metzger and Everitt. The three partners, together again, recapitalized their firm, renaming it the Flanders Motor Company. However, the new company was strapped for cash, and began failing almost immediately. In late 1912, Flanders financially juggled the company, selling Flanders to the United States Motor Co, and heading the new company. Metzger and Everitt, however, took their profits from the sale and left (REF2).
Later Years
After the dissolution of Flanders, Metzger became affiliated with numerous other automotive companies, including Columbia Motors, Wills Sainte Claire, and Federal Motor Truck Co. He also was appointed to the executive committee of the American Automobile Association, and was elected president of the Detroit Board of Fire Commissioners (REF4).
In 1921, Everitt, Metzger, and Flanders reunited once again to produce the Rickenbacker (in partnership with Eddie Rickenbacker). However, the company never really got off the ground. Profits were low or nonexistant, and the company was dealt a blow by the death of Walter Flanders in an automobile accident in 1923. The company limped along for a few years, but in 1926 Rickenbacker, disgusted with the constant bickering, resigned. Other company officers left, and Rickenbacker Motors closed for good in 1927 (REF3).
In the late 1920s, Metzger turned to aircraft. He had been a good friend of the Wright brothers (REF4), and felt the US needed more airplane manufacturing. In 1926, he helped Eddie Stinson form the Stinson Aircraft Company. THe next year, he organized the first All-American Aircraft Show in Detroit. In 1929, he organized the Cadillac Aricraft Co. The company built technicallyu superior arcraft, but hte onset of the Great Depression hurt the company.
As the Great Depression started, William Metzger's health began to decline. He was incapacitated for four years, and a heart attack claimed his life on April 11, 1933 (REF2).

Polly Vaughn
Polly Vaughn is a folk song that has been documented in England, Ireland, the United States, Australia, and Canada since at least 1819. This traditional English Ballad tells the story of Jimmy Randall, who is out hunting at dusk and accidentally shoots his fiancée, Polly Vaughn, mistaking her for a swan: "For she'd her apron wrapped around her and he took her for a swan." Earlier versions have Jimmy shoot her with an arrow; in more recent variants Jimmy uses a gun. Polly's ghost later appears at Jimmy's trial, telling the jury that her death was accidental.
More recently, the song has been performed by The Dillards and Larry Keel.
Also known as Johnnie Randle, Jimmie Randall, The Jolly Plowboy, Molly Bawn, Jimmy the Fowler.

Mia Gallagher
Mia Gallagher was born in Dublin where she lives. Her short stories have been published in Ireland, the UK and the USA, and several have been produced as monologues. She also works as a performer, devising original work for the theatre, and occasionally writes for broadcast TV and educational media. Hellfire is her first novel. Mia Gallagher has acted, directed, taught drama and creative writing, and worked in prisons, both as an artists' model and a teacher.
Mia Gallagher was delighted that her story, Found Wanting, was included in the 2002 Fish Anthology as Editor’s Choice – and even more delighted the following year when, All Bones, was chosen as a runner-up. Since then she’s had another story featured in Carve Magazine and in November 2004 secured a deal with Penguin Ireland for her first novel, HellFire. Most recently she won the Start Chapbook Fiction competition; three of her stories (including All Bones) will be published in a limited-edition volume. Mia is now working on her second novel.
Hellfire is a difficult book to read, as is any book written entirely in dialect, and for anyone totally unfamiliar with the Dublin accent it will be a challenge. But it is a challenge worth taking up, for Ms Gallagher's debut novel is a tour de force, an immensely powerful story written with an honesty that is both shocking and deeply affecting.
Told entirely through the voice of Lucy Dolan, the story is set in the drug-ridden days of the later decades of the last century, decades in which more and more young people in Dublin became caught up in the world of drugs. It was a world which inevitably led to conflict, conflict in families, conflict between drug dealers and suppliers, and conflict within individuals. It is this latter concept that the author has portrayed with such expertise, the conflict between instant gratification and the need to take control, between taking responsibility and looking after one's own interests. We are introduced to the Marconi family, known as the Dolans after their father left the scene, an archetypal dysfunctional family with a mother taking affection wherever she can find it, but so wounded herself that she is incapable of looking after her children. Lucy has two brothers, Micko, who succumbs to both drugs and criminality, and John Paul who manages to carve himself out a reasonable life but is not completely uninvolved, and a younger sister who is both the calming influence and the victim. But the character who is the focus of her narrative, the man on whom she places the blame for the horrific events of her early teens, is the enigmatic Neil, known as the Nailer.
Add to this cast of characters a number of friends, Amanda, Charlie, Damo, and insert the Hellfire Club in the Dublin mountains, drug trips, inter-gang warfare, family rivalry and misplaced protectiveness, and you have a novel of extraordinary violence, yet of great tenderness. And through it all Lucy is searching for answers to the questions thrown up by her life, questions that are reflected in and to some extent answered by the ever present roll call of the Tarot cards read by her grandmother and mother. "Hellfire" may be a marathon read but it is certainly a worthwhile one.

Stachetober
Stachetober refers to a month long moustache celebration and competition that takes place during the month of October. US Peace Corps volunteers started the Stachetober competition in Kyrgyzstan and have since spread it to various communities throughout the United States, as well as throughout several major cities worldwide. Participation in Stachetober typically requires a standard of 'gentlemanly' conduct. Participants seek to counter moustache discrimination, as well as to simply have a good time.
The Stachetober rules generally require all participants to start with a clean shave at 12:00am on October 1st. The competition comes to a close at a "Stachetoberfest" party, which usually includes an awards ceremony with different categories of mustache awards presented to the participants.
