Steve Cox (wrestler)

Template:Afc a

Template:Tlx

Steve Cox is a retired American professional wrestler who competed in Mid-South regional promotions during the 1980s and early 1990s including the Universal Wrestling Federation, World Class Championship Wrestling and the National Wrestling Alliance.

Early career

Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Cox played college football at the University of Tulsa and was team captain before becoming a professional wrestler.

During 1987, Cox appeared on several Mid-South supercards defeating Super Ninja at Superblast at the Superdome on April 11 [1] and Gary Young at the Superdome Extravaganza on June 13 [2] before loosing to Terry Taylor at Superdome Extravaganza on August 1. [3]

World Class Championship Wrestling

After short stints in All Star Wrestling and Central States Wrestling, he was introduced by Michael P.S. Hayes as his protege and new tag team partner soon becoming involved in a feud with the Samoan Swat Team [4] and defeating them for the World Class Tag Team titles on September 16 before loosing it back to them three days later.

Regaining the titles at the supercard Cotton Bowl Extravaganza on October 15, they would only hold the titles for two days before loosing them back to the Samoan Swat Team on October 17. After loosing to the Samoan Swat Team in a rematch at SuperClash III on December 13, [5] the team broke up shortly thereafter with both men leaving the promotion.

Global Wrestling Federation

Resurfacing in the Global Wrestling Federation during the early 1990s, Cox began teaming with Stan Lane and defeated Kendo Nagasaki and Ninja in the opening rounds of the 2-day GWF World Tag Team Title Tournament before loosing to Steve Simpson and Chris Walker in the semi-finals in July 1991. [6]

Soon after their defeat, Cox and Lane began feuding and was defeated by Lane in the semi-finals of the GWF North American Championship Tournament after defeating Rod Price in the opening rounds on August 9, 1991. [7]

UWF International

Traveling to Japan in mid-1992, he began competing for the Japanese shoot wrestling promotion UWF International and lost to Nobuhiko Takada in Shizuoka, Japan on July 12 and again on August 28 in a tag team match with Kazuo Yamazaki against Takada and Mark Fleming at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. After loosing a match to Kiyoshi Tamura at the Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium on September 21, he returned to the United States shortly after. [8]

Later years

He soon began wrestling in the Oklahoma City-based Power Zone Wrestling Alliance where he would compete on and off for the next three years.

In January 1996, Cox appeared on a PPV supercard for the Memphis-based CWA at the Dallas Sportatorium in which he teamed with Bo Vegas, Devon Michaels, Marc Valiant, Scott Putski and Dom Minoldi to defeat Firebreaker Chip, Rod Price, John Hawk, Shawn Summers, Alex Porteau and Guido Falcone in a "Bodyguards vs. Bandits" match. The match, using an unorthodox "football rules" scoring system as opposed to the standard pinfall, has been considered by some wrestling fans to be one of the most confusing, and by some accounts, boring matches held. [9]

In 2006, Cox appeared with promoter Bill Watts and Manny Fernandez at the Ricky Morton Tag Team Invitational in Tulsa, Oklahoma on February 26. [10]

Championships and accomplishments

  • World Class Championship Wrestling
  • WCCW Tag Team Championship (2 times) with Michael P.S. Hayes [11]
  • PWI ranked him # 343 of the 500 best singles wrestlers of the PWI 500 in 1992
  • PWI ranked him # 330 of the 500 best singles wrestlers of the PWI 500 in 1991

Clint Harrigan is a pseudonym used by Paul McCartney to write liner notes for his first album with Wings entitled "Wild Life and the "thrillington" albums-the latter being an orchestrative version of his solo album "Ram". McCartney admitted he was Clint Harrigan to Journalist Peter Palmiere via an autograph request.Oddly enough, the first person that recognized Clint Harrigan as Paul McCartney was John Lennon-he revealed this via a letter feud with McCartney on the New Musical Express in 1972

Rus Stewart, New Wave/Ambient/Trance, musician, remixer, composer, original member of The Fashion Police

Template:Afc r

Rus Stewart, a New Wave, Ambient, and Trance musician and remixer, he is a composer and artist, original member of The Fashion Police, which was formed in 1988, and Nocturnal Waveforms, a solo ambient project.

He plays synthesizer, as his primary instrument. (Some of which are one-of-a-kind machines of his own creation, often "Frankensteined" from other instruments.)

Mr. Stewart has composed many original tracks, and has international renown as an original artist, remixer and producer, and founded an indie record label, Robotique Records.

Born in rural Eastern Ohio, he also lived in the South Pacific island of Tutuila in American Samoa.

First recordings were ambient tracks which had a sound which ranged in similiarity to various works of Tangerine Dream, New Order, Depeche Mode, Joy Division, Red Flag, and Klaus Schulze, and in 1988, he began to include spoken-word vocals of the Kraftwerkian sort to his music. Later on, he would collaborate with other musicians, ranging from the obscure to well-known, to include vocal performances.

Currently, Mr. Stewart is collaborating with Shadi Ziaei, of Tom Girl, and formerly of Aastiage, and Scott Romano, and in the late '90s and early Millenium, has collaborated internationally with Chris and Olly Sterio, (Isle of Man, UK) and Mark Wheawill, Manchester, UK) who are internationally-touring Trance/Tech house DJs and producers of Source of Gravity.

He also ran a popular radio mixshow called "The Underground Groove" (from the late '80s until January, 2007, when he went off the air) which featured demos submitted from artists around the globe (much like the UK Radio One John Peel sessions)and has written reviews on many artists, ranging from unknown and obscure, to those of international renown. Also, his radio mixshows included guest mixes from other DJs from around the globe, such as Thailand's DJ Nakadia.

Mr. Stewart also produced extended remixes for airplay on his mixshows, artists such as Anything Box, Book of Love, Red Flag, The Cure, Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Depeche Mode, New Order, The Affordable Floors, Source of Gravity, Klaus Schulze, and many more.

A discography includes:

The Fashion Police (1988, Robotique Records)

Through the Flower

Template:Afc r

Through the Flower is a non profit Feminist art organization founded by artist Judy Chicago in 1978. Their mission is to educate a broad public about the importance of art and its power to counter the erasure of women’s achievements. They do this through educational programs and by recognizing and honoring the achievements of Feminist artists. Through the Flower's most extensive project currently is the development and distribution of a new K-12 curriculum and classroom materials based on The Dinner Party so the future generations will grow up knowing about women’s history. They are working with leading art educators around the country in this development effort which will also encourage the practice of feminist teaching methods. Feminist teaching methods include patience and probing to ensure that every voice in the classroom is heard. Feminist teaching uses a circular seating arrangement whereby everyone is present and part of a collaborative working group. Participants listen to, respond to, and question beliefs, values, and experiences as the facilitator helps participants develop their own ideas upon which their art making is then based.

List of gangs in the Batman comics

Template:Afc r

Several Batman comic books and other DC Universe related titles have a recurring antagonist in the form of gangsters and criminal organizations; adding to the familar rogue's gallery. These crime family of several ethnicities, histories, and objectives have made themselves a force in Gotham City for the Dark Knight and his partners to reckon with. However, ever since the Rogues' Gallery took over the city during the Batman's second year, the mobsters have decreased in terms of power and control over Gotham.

Italian-American/Sicilian Gangs

Falcone Family

Major storylines= Batman: Year One, The Long Halloween, Dark Victory

The Falcone family is a Italian-American Mafia criminal organization hailing from Sicily; according to Batman. Their main base of operations is the Falcone penthouse and apartment complex (of which they own) in Gotham City. Of all the businesses they manage within the city, they are heavily involved in extortion, smuggling, rackateering, loan sharking, theft, and gambling. To maintain a "front" to look legitimate, the Falcones set up a shoe store chain and a shipping company called Falcone Imports, and they use this particular company to acquire narcotics and other drugs for selling purposes. Several of Gotham's political elite, including a number of judges and police personnel, were bribed with drug money and other favors in exchange for keeping others off their trail. According to Batman, before he began his war on crime, the Falcones were in power for nearly forty years. The last Don of the family was Carmine "The Roman" Falcone. Other members of the family included his wife Louisa, eldest son Mario, middle child Sofia Falcone Gigante, and the nearly-non existent member and youngest child, Alberto.

Carmine's unnamed grandfather (said to be Santino) founded the crime syndicate years before when the family lived in Sicily. Upon expanding the business, he moved his family to Gotham in New Jersey and formally began their strong grip on the city. When the patriarch died, his son Vincent took on the role of "Don Falcone," and he was often at holds with the neighbouring Maroni Family (see below). Although he tried to maintain a peaceful truce with their rival, both families were often butting heads in a quest for control over territory. After his oldest son Carmine was deeply wounded in a hit and run shooting, Vincent took him to Wayne Manor to ask for help from its owner, Thomas Wayne, because going to a hospital would bring media attention and the Maronis the chance to finish him. The end result was Thomas performing surgery on the dining room table with Alfred Pennyworth assisting. Despite saving his life, Wayne refused all rewards or favors offered by Falcone on ground that "This has nothing to do with compensation." Six year old Bruce Wayne watched all this in silence; unaware of who the injured man for some time. Two years later, after his parents were murdered by Joe Chill, the eight year old Bruce formally met the young Carmine at the Wayne's funeral, who promised him any favor in exchange for his father's kindness.

When Bruce returned to Gotham in his early twenties and became Batman, the Falcones had all but ruled Gotham in name. Carmine had maintained a territorial treaty with the Maroni family's leader, Salvatore. However, he was going through several stresses in his personal life: his eldest Mario had been deported back to "the old country," Sofia was doing time in Blackgate Penetentiary, and Alberto had just graduated from Oxford University after transferring from Harvard. After Batman had disrupted a number of his operations and exposed many on his payroll, a young district attorney named Harvey Dent and rising cop Jim Gordon started capturing and prosecuting many of their own, such as Arnold Flass and Commissioner Gillian B. Loeb. Outraged, Falcone ordered the kidnapping of Gordon's wife and infant son to warn them to stop, but Batman intervened and saved them both. The first weeks of Batman's career proved successful as Loeb was forced to resign, and the Falcone family.
