Welcome
Hello, welcome to Wikipedia.
You can also sign your name using three tildes, like this: ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
You might find these links helpful in creating new pages or helping with the tasks below: How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Naming conventions, Manual of Style. You should read our policies at some point too.
If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian!
Again, welcome!
P.S. Also, your edits to India are well written, and interesting, but they seem to be replacing a somewhat negative view of India's wars with a definitely positive point-of-view about the nation's modern history. I want to urge you to make it more balanced, and definitely restore the factual information.
One of our most important pronciples is to keep a neutral point of view. You can also get input from other editors on by leaving a message at Talk:India.

History of India
Before you make any substantial edits to a sensitive topic like this, it is always a good policy to write it out on the talk page, as this avoids unneccesary edit wars with other editors. I have proposed a new paragraph at Talk:India. You can comment on this on the talk page. kaal 23:34, 9 Mar 2005 (UTC)
British vs. American spellings
Because this is an international project, the basic standard is that the article uses whichever standard it was started with , with the exception that thing such as Labour Party and Secretary of Labor retain their actual spelling. The detailed explanation is at Wikipedia:Spelling#National varieties of English
