Seems like you have been around for some time now, but it is never to late to:

Welcome!

Hello Peter Maggs, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!

All at sea about Barnacle Bill

Who can argue with an Ealing man about an Ealing film? Must have had barnacles on the brain. I've made the change. Clarityfiend 17:02, 28 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re Inline Citations

Inline citations are indeed when you have a small number next to a sentence, and then under a "Notes" section the relevant details appear. When citing a book, you have to cite the specific page. The "References" section should hold the relevant details about a book such as the ISBN number etc. Feel free to drop in if you have any other queries. Laser Physics?

Have you done lasers in Edinburgh Peter? Not exactly Brunel's style to be sure though.

Certainly have. Would you identify yourself? Peter Maggs 07:43, 6 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you

Thanks for your message about Gunnersbury, see my comment on my talk page.

Also thanks for your work on Cardew Robinson - we need to make sure these peopole aren't forgotten! DavidFarmbrough 13:57, 26 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

NowCommons: Image:DSCF0499.JPG

Image:DSCF0499.JPG is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:Image:The Boat-House Gunnersbury Park.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all MediaWiki wiki's. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[Image:The Boat-House Gunnersbury Park.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 16:04, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

The POV Objection Vanishes

...if you can cite a WP:Reliable source that agrees with you. I've looked around; the best I can find is this TCM article ("...Hitchcock's writers pepper the dialogue with sly jokes and innuendos."). Not ideal, but I think it would fend off the deletionist wolves. Clarityfiend (talk) 17:44, 5 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (File:Insert-signature.png or File:Signature icon.png) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 22:15, 3 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Signing Posts

Well now, here's a thing Mr SineBot, every time, yes, every time I post content I ALWAYS use either four tildas or the signature button, and my name and the time appears on the post. Yet EVEY TIME I do this, I get a message from you saying I have not signed my post... This is all starting to get very silly! Signed with four tildas Peter Maggs 11:42, 8 December 2015 (UTC) and for good measure the signature button --Peter Maggs 11:42, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
