Orphaned fair use image (Image:Kakuda CitySymbol.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Kakuda CitySymbol.png. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. FYI

As for Makudo. See [2] and [3]. Hope they are helpful. Oda Mari 15:55, 30 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I never knew that it was such a debate over in Japan. It's sort of similar to the "Soda vs. Pop" (occasionally also known simply as "Soda Pop" or "Coke", regardless of the brand) debate here in the U.S. -- Masamunecyrus(talk)(contribs) File:Flag of the United States.svg 06:26, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Interesting. Is it something regional like Mac vs. Makudo? Or something else? Oda Mari 14:42, 3 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, it's a regional thing. Here in Indiana, I call soft drinks, "Soda", but it's usually "Pop" around here. Soda is usually used on the east and west coasts (New England, California). The Pop vs. Soda Page has been researching it for over 5 years. -- Masamunecyrus(talk)(contribs) File:Flag of the United States.svg 06:23, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 05:22, 20 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

The World Destubathon

Hello. You're invited to participate in The World Destubathon. We're aiming to destub a lot of articles and also improve longer stale articles. It commenced yesterday on Monday June 16 and will run until Sunday July 13. There is over $3300 going into it, with $500 the top prize. If you are interested in winning something to save you money in buying books for future content, or just see it as a good editathon opportunity to see a lot of articles improved for subjects which interest you, sign up on the page in the participants section if interested. Even if you can only manage a few articles they would be very much appreciated and help make the content produced as diverse and broad as possible! Feel free to invite others who you think might want to contribute.♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:04, 17 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
