That's a nice picture. Due to my work on the german wikipedia about Bagram / BAF and the article about the internment facility I was looking for pictures like this before but I couldn't find any. Thank you for uploading.

I just wan't to say that I am not generally against a move to Bagram Airfield. When I was unsure about the name I have just checked the naming conventions and followed them.--Zaccarias (talk) 13:27, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

I believe in providing the most accurate information to wikipedia. While the name "Bagram Airfield" in media may be less used than "Bagram Air Base" it is simply a misconception developed by the misunderstanding of the way this base was named. It has a considerable USAF presence but it most definitely is an Army installation. We just have a small part if you look at the whole. Some people without any conception of naming between USAF and the Army will just chime in that since it has an airstrip and the USAF is there that it must be an AB, though, AB is generally afforded to installations under USAF control. This place isn't and hence it is an Airfield.

I have quite a few more photos of the area around BAF/Bagram (mainly landscapes, pictures of the mud walls and buildings, etc) that I may upload once I've confirmed there isn't anything OPSEC related in them. I'm glad you like the photo. I'm a bit disappointed it came out less sharp than I would have preferred but it does show that Bagram isn't a bunch of huts that most believe. -JE (talk) 16:42, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

My view is that we need to find out why they call it Bagram Air Base on their website at all. It's like, "let's confuse people with inconsistencies." A person brought up that it is possible that "Air Base" refers to the complex as a whole, with the Airfield being a part of it. —harej (talk) (cool!) 08:27, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

The problem with that though is it is entirely backwards thinking when looked at through the military prospective: Air Bases are Air Force, Airfields are Army. To say the "Airfield" is a small part of the whole.. how many Army installations are called a Base ([1])? I imagine I could try to find the office that runs the 455 AEW's website and see why they're calling it Bagram Air Base.. but technically that isn't the official website for BAF itself.. as that is an Air Force website for an Air Force Wing that is only a small part of the whole installation. Possibly that the creators felt it was directed to the Air Force aspect of operations -- the 455 AEW handles only Air Force activities here at Bagram Airfield. Everything else is handled through the 82nd Airborne who operates the rest of the installation[2]. Forgot to reply earlier, sorry. If I were the one closing I might have gone with moving it, but Aervanath has way more experience with page moves than I do.
