Reaction to your advice
Well ... while he asked for advice, he didn't appear to want yours. I was impressed by your advice, however. --Epeefleche (talk) 06:10, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you. I tried to point him in the right direction, but I think it ended up being a waste of time. Hopefully, he will learn how to edit on his own, before he annoys too many people. Carl Henderson (talk) 06:14, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
- Well, just don't take it personally. My efforts to discuss this with him went ... well, you can see them in what he deleted here, and on my talkpage. Epeefleche (talk) 06:21, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
- I don't take it personally. People do the kind of shit people do. I offered him my best advice, because I thought he needed help. It is up to him to listen or not. I've dealt with griefers in Second Life, trolls on Usenet, etc.; this is mild by comparison! Carl Henderson (talk) 07:29, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

If you have the time and wouldn't mind, would you please work your magic on this: File:Chetro Ketl from the west, 1981.png like you did with the other? RO(talk) 23:46, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
- No problem. I did my best with it. I wish there here higher resolution originals for you to work with. Carl Henderson (talk) 03:38, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

The reversion on 2015 Mina stampede figures
Hi, I saw you reverted an IP edit on the page 2015 Mina stampede. I tried to double-check, and found that the total number of people killed, assuming everyone is only from one country, would be 2309 (calculated using a spreadsheet program). Is there a reason the listed value needs to be 2301? Are some people in the table from more than one country? Because that would make sense, but there would need to be a note to warn future editors. --BurritoBazooka (talk) 04:21, 1 November 2015 (UTC)
- Nevermind, I updated it now after seeing the edit which brought the total out of line in the first place. --BurritoBazooka (talk) 05:45, 1 November 2015 (UTC)
- There appears to have been another IP editor at it today, changing figures without providing sources. Last week, I made my own spreadsheet to keep track of the total as the total number had been tweaked a lot with no mechanical check. If it were up to me, I'd just pull the "Total—National Counts" from the lead paragraph and table, but the consensus of editors on the talk page was to keep it. So if it is going to be there, it needs to be as accurate as possible. I appreciate the work you have done towards that end. I'm going to try to figure out some of the IP edits tonight. Another Barnstar!
| File:Working Man's Barnstar.png | The Working Wikipedian's Barnstar |
| For your tireless and ongoing work on the 2015 Mina stampede article, for cleaning up the language and all those citations, and for doing so much work to keep the "by nation" table as up-to-date, as accurate, and as meaningful as possible. You've been there since the event was breaking news, and you're still actively updating the article. Your contributions to contentious issues in this emotionally sensitive article have also been valuable and helpful. Thanks Carl! Dcs002 (talk) 03:15, 16 November 2015 (UTC) |
- Thank you very much, Dcs002! I really appreciate this. Carl Henderson (talk) 19:53, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
- I second this one. With all its sources and editors contributing from afar, this could have become a real Rashōmon of an article. But it didn't, and I credit your steadying influence for making that so. There are still many open questions, but ultimately Wikipedia will be the account to which investigators and government officials will ultimately have to answer. Thank you for you painstaking care and vigilance Vesuvius Dogg (talk) 02:47, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you, Vesuvius Dogg, and I appreciate your work on the article as well. And I agree that this one will be updated quite a bit as events progress. I will be keeping an eye the story even after the article is in the best shape it can be. Carl Henderson (talk) 08:37, 29 November 2015 (UTC)

An article for the Mina page
http://www.presstv.ir/Detail/2015/11/25/439101/Iran-Saudi-Arabia-Roknabadi-Hajj-Mina-
This is important but no time on this end... Take care!! Heavenlyhermes (talk) 14:32, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you. I will add that today. Carl Henderson (talk) 18:36, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
- Added. See "Dead" section. I found a few other sources to flesh out the report. I'm very glad you found this. I was also working on a sub-section for the "Aftermath" section on the adverse effect of the Mina Crush on Iran-Saudi relations, and this is relevant there, too. Your Newspapers.com account
You do have an account at Newspapers.com. Part of the application procedure was to sign up for a free account there. When you filled out the Google form (the other part of the application procedure) it was upgraded to a regular account. You would have chosen a password when you signed up last May. In order to access your account, go to https://www.newspapers.com/ and click on "Sign-in" at the top on the right. Enter the email address you used to sign up (the one I used to contact you today). You may need to reset your password. Since you've missed using the resource all this time, I'll go ahead and renew your account for another year! By the way, since January Newspapers.com has added "Publisher Extra" content that is not included in our Wikipedia subscriptions. It appears in search result lists with a little plus sign next to the newspaper title. You can choose to have this content excluded from your result lists, which will save some aggravation. All the best, HazelAB (talk) 20:00, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. I have done that and successfully logged in. Carl Henderson (talk) 20:33, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

Issues with the logo for website Adland
Hi
I'm on a quest to translate wikipedia articles to Swedish, and have translated Adland where you were the person who uploaded the logo. No matter what I do, I can't seem to get that logo into the Swedish page. I have no issues at all with the Adforum logo when I translated that page here. Would you be able to help? I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Frakkler (talk) 19:38, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
- Frakkler - the issue (I think) is that the Adland logo image was uploaded only to the English language Wikipedia image repository under a "Fair Use" claim. It was not uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons, as "Fair Use" claim images are not allowed there. I think you would need to see if there is something like the US law "Fair Use" exemption for the Swedish language Wikipedia, and then find out what those requirements are. Carl Henderson (talk) 23:33, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
- I see. That makes sense. I'll see what info I can find on that in svwp. Thanks. Frakkler (talk) 23:43, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
